That's complete rubbish mate. The application process for all Infantry and infact all trades is the same and aslong as you got a high enough score on the BARB test, which you will have, then they can't stop you from going for Para Reg.

Also you don't get sent to ADSC for Light Infantry or Para, you're sent to pass it, it's the same course for EVERYONE the only difference is the required pass marks so simply wanting to join a different Infantry Regiment will make no difference to the date you go there.

I would definately speak to one of the Officers that the AFCO and explain to them you're not happy about being forced into joining a Regiment you don't want to.

Before you're put forward for ADSC you should have had an interview with the CO to make sure you'd been given the right advice and not pushed into a job you don't want to join, that's how they do it at Liverpool and it's suppose to make sure this kind of thing doesn't happen.

Sounds like you've been unlucky and have got a shite AFCO.

If worse comes to worst and you go to ADSC with them still saying you've got to go for a different Reg but you do your run in under the 9:18min then make sure you tell the officer who interviews you that you want to join the Paras but have been railroaded into a different Regiment but that should really be a last resort ideally you want to have this sorted before you get that far.

One more point you can always threaten to withdraw your application unless they stop messing you around (you can do this right up until you swear your oath of aligence) the prospect of loosing a recuit altogether may force them to stop messing you around.

It really annoys me when you hear about this sort of thing, the whole point of the recruiting staff is for them to help you not mess you around. I've been lucky as the staff at the Liverpool office always seem to be more than willing to help out.

Alfa, is the Liverpool ACIO where they is actually someone from the Parachute Regiment? I think it was Liverpool, he was called steve if I remember rightly. He was a massive help over the phone to me when my recruiter was messing me about telling me dodgy fitness levels I had to reach to get in.

 I found it funny how all the AFCO staff seem to despise the Parachute Regiment. It's not on at all but there's a side to it which does make me chuckle.

Yeah we have a dedicated Para Sgt at Liverpool but all the guys there are pretty good reguardless of cap badge. Not sure if it's changed now but as far as I know the Para Sgt there isn't called Steve but there may be other Paras working there.

It wouldn't be so funny if someone was hindering your application to join the Regiment you want to join.

They're simply not doing their job properly and there's nothing funny about that. It's quite pathetic actually.

Yes you can, you can apply for a transfer after your 28 days are up but you'll have to show your fitness is upto scratch and that you can pass the BFT in the required time.

Would it not be a better idea to just re-do RSC rather than joining up and then transferring regiments?

3 months is nothing, I'd rather wait than risk being pissed about at Catterick waiting for transfers etc... but the decision is yours mate so good luck with it.
