If I was you I would bin the abuse ASAP. The female of the species also read this and if Flo or Loz clock this you'd better stand by all pockets.

As it is most young just out of the box Bootnecks are renowned for being PLUMS RATINGS as in don't get a lot of joy when it comes to the company of noice Ladies.

Besides, youre guaranteed plenty of shags as a Marine anyway. And who cares what they look like, a holes a goal at the end of the day right mate 8)
We will have less of that  , as for guaranteed shags, i wouldnt count on it sunshine, just remember that when you are down town trapping............if you pass basic that is!!!! that the girls in the garrisoon towns are well experienced in the way of the bootneck. Just remember that we too have grab a gronk nights!!!!!!

And as for the comments about girlfriends moaning during training. Firstly if you are serious about her then let her know what she is in for, dont gloss over it because the training team wont be glossing over your basic training - trust me? And many a nod has phoned thier girlfriends in tears because they were finding it difficult to hack it. As for wives, well i am biased because i am one, (married to C/sgt 13 years) but i have seen many a marriage break down, but that is due to lack of communication, if you are in a military relationship then you need to communicate or things will go tits up. Many a young lad has been on here done basic and gone home to mummy bumming up the fact that he is still a sprog and making out that he cant tell his parents/families/girlfriends what he is doing because ITS SECRET :o and they the families have come on this web forum asking questions which they neednt have to ask if only their little lad had told the truth.

But a wee bit of truth for you lads, its not your debonair good looks the girls are after, its the uniform, guaranteed monthly wage, nice MQ and a ticket out of where they live.

i saw this one coming, fantastic

I've been reading the book now for a few days and got upto chater 18. I must say it is great so far, lots of bootneck antics.

The urine drinking competition sounds funny.

Interesting reading everyone's responses, especially Flo's.

I think there seems to be some people who have read this book and got the impression that once you have passed out and become a Royal, you will automatically become a lady-magnet and a one man fighting machine capable of flooring anyone with just a stare!
Steve does say right at the begining that things are much different now, and to be honest I think that's a good thing.

Sorry Flo, didnt mean it to come across so strongly like that. Apologies. As for my girlfriend i am very serious about her, but i expect her to moan as i wont get to see her often. Ive given her books about what it might be like for her. 'Making of a Royal Marines Commando' i was recommended as it has a chapter of the girlfriends/wives point of view. Not trying to be a little so and so on here, was just stating that its not hard to have fun on a night out as a civi and i hear its even easier as a squaddie as many girls like the old uniform etc.

Didnt mean to come across as being a total common bloke, sorry Flo

Good accurate points Flo and a credible apology from you rgj-rifleman.

I know some of you have mentioned reading the sequal book to my story "Always A Marine." If you have you will probably realise that my wife played a big part in helping me through some difficult times. It is a true fact that behind a successful man is often a good strong woman. So fair play to Flo's comments.

During my career I personally stayed single. Its just the way it worked out. Yes, I got my fair share of women, just like any young man playing the field I guess. It was a big field and I played all over it!!

However, when I met my wife I never looked at another woman again. This is definately because I worked at building a happy and fair relationship with her when it was time for me to settle down.

These days I ensure she knows who's boss and I've firmly told her, If she doesn't stop giving me all the household chores to do, she can do the dish pots herself!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He then talked about my girlfriend. He asked what the realtiomship was like, how long we have been seeing eachother, i cannot stress enough fellas, if you do have girlfriends and care for them deeply these guys want to know you will be commited through training, so i said at my age its just a casual relationship which it is in honesty, not looking for anything too serious at this age
-From interview update.

Make your mind up, you commited or not? lol.

I know I'm commited to my girl, when im at Oxford she will be at Reading so its not to far to keep a relationship alive. Plus my travel to Henely RMR (if I get in!) goes through Reading so I can jump off the train and say hey
