I was thinking more along the lines of 'once your muscles have been at a certain level, after a lay off they will return to that level very quickly.'

I suppose it may well apply to co-ordination aswell.

The careful approach you're suggesting is very valid as I can safely say pressups don't mean a thing when you're on bottom field.

However doing some slow controlled reps should not be that risky if recuperated a sufficient amount and if it doesn't provide any training benefits it would atleast provide some psychological boost or relief.

you've hit the nail on the head there matt - it's the psychological relief that's required! I'm concerned now as i haven't done any press-ups in the last few weeks, i've been familiar with doing dozens a day and now that i know i haven't been doing them and i haven't got the strength it's a bit daunting - especially as i know the level i was at and expect others to be at.... bottom field isn't worrying me, though it probably should...

It's depressing when you stop training. You feel your body is slowly deteriorating. Thats not strictly true though. If you have been training for literally months and months before you stopped doing press-ups and pull ups, it will take alot longer than 3 weeks for your body to reverse

Bugger me though, pressups would be a nice rest on bottom field (i'm not that heavy). I just effing hope we don't go mad on the burpees :o

I CAN'T STAND BURPEES  - the worst exercise in the world

As far as bottom field goes I don't remember doing alot of burpees or press ups.

But I did kind of finish prematurely so there may have been some afterwards, I think I quit near the end of the cheeky warm up so there weren't that many.

Probably leopard crawling will become your worst exercise after, it's definately mine, just the mere thought of doing it when your that tired makes me want to curl up in the foetal position.

Ahhh, i'm alright with leopard crawling suprisingly. The worst part is slamming your knees and elbows along the hard ground.

How about a leopard crawl up a hill while pushing a large log? You'll love leopard crawls after that.

Not sure yet, haven't even looked at train times. Am currently typing one handed thanks to spilling hot glue over my right hand today at work, most pleasant. Now have multiple burns, broken the skin on my thumb. No push ups for me this week then, great..... :-? So, in the last 2 weeks I've had flu, swollen knee, aching hip and now burnt limbs. Is someone trying to tell me something? Whatever happens, I'll be there to show you my new scars on sunday!

...and i thought it was just me.... i know how you feel mate! sh*t comes in piles - it's just the result of training hard, or being a clumsy buggar - i prefer to think the first. I've been told that training this week will not help anyway - still can't help doing a kinky little 45 mins in boots :D

My back doesn't seem to be getting any better (usually calms down 3 days after exercise), just keeps burning. Probably as a result of a 200m firemans carry.

You been practicing firemans carries?

Got me 1000 mile socks today :D no blisters "guarenteed".

in a word no, but i have been running around the gym with a 30kg bag on my shoulders, strengthening my legs and carrying my equal sized cousin around for fun, should help!

these socks will get some good testing next wk  - i don't get blisters anymore just these burning areas on my feet, not as bad as blisters but not too nice.

PS. been away for a couple of days and apparently BT have buggered my phoneline at home, so might not be around for the next couple of days, gd luck and i'll PM you my mobile.
