It's all good. At the end of the day, you don't really know if it was McNad (teehee) that spoke to Nuts. Could be some random weirdo, I guess.

With a multitude of insulting and offensive names and words in the English language can't you come up with something better than a "testicle"??? :o

Id like to vote on this, but as I dont know the guy I cant say whether he is a fake, a hero or a bawbag.

I think its crap that this can come up here and general f*%&wits can openly post their opinions on someone they dont know. To those that do know him, or those who knew the people he wrote about, I hold your opinions in high regard, as you know first hand (or near as damnit) what happened and what he is like.

For me however, I was obscenely judged by people who dont know me, and never will!

Maybe I am speaking out of turn, but I dont think it is right for some wannabes/walters/or whatever to vot on what kind of person "Andy McNab" is.

Im not defending him as I dont now him, he could be a hero/fake/testicle, whatever, just dont think its the p;ace for it.

Anyway, a horse walks into a bar ........................... 8)

Anyone who writes a book which is listed as based on facts and involves the author direct is opening themselves to public opinion.

This is a public domain and as such people will voice their opinion on the book and the author.

Some may be because they know the truth, others because they don't yet feel they know better.

Such is life.

Now about this horse, once knew a mule called muffin.... :D

I don't think the millionaire author Andy McNab gives a toss what people think of him or his book. Clearly enough people liked it to keep him in sherbets for the rest of his natural. :P

So what if he "sexed" it up? The American film industry doesn't think twice about rewriting history to make their boys look like supermen. Let's "big-up" the British Army to the world for once and celebrate the expertise of our armed forces.

Perhaps you prefer Michael Asher's "investigation" into the patrol in which, if I recall correctly, he conceded to 2 contacts. The first at their LUP where he tells us that 3 Iraqi civilians, one a youth, one disabled and one old man, saw off 8 well armed SAS troopers. Not just saw them off, but spooked them to the point were they abandoned their bergens in their panic!

The other was at the border where he would have us believe that a handful of local police routed the remaining members of the patrol with not a scratch to themselves. This version of events defies belief and is a bigger insult to those that lost their lifes than anything else written.

I suspect the truth lies somewhere between the 2 accounts, but that of the 2 B20 is at least the closer of the 2, like it or not.

What is beyond dispute is that "McNab" was a badged member of probably the most respected Special Forces Regiment in the world. He survived all that his Army career threw at him and went on to become successful in his civilian life. I for one would be proud to have a CV like that and I wish I was a penny behind him in the bank.

The "real" Chris Ryan?

Maybe someone in the know should PM him and find out

I used to be in contact with Adrian Weale, who has written some interesting books he visited MFAT in the past and liked the site.

It would good if any of you out there are in contact with book authors out there as their input is useful. We have Steve now who is a regular poster - some agreed with him some do not but they all have experience of fitness and training and let's face it that it what this site is about, we've always been anti glamoursing guns/combat/death and may that long continue.

As I have said before you would be surprised who views this site :o ... or may be not! LOL

Interesting???? :-?

As mfat points out anyone can use any name they wish on this and anyother site.

I will therefore come clean and admit that 'Rover' is just my cover.
My real name is Fido and I am a genuine Persian Jube cat. :D :D
