I'm doing some mother - son bonding
Before my baby becomes a man
We're spending some time, just the two of us
And I'm enjoying it all I can
We talk about his childhood
And funny things he may have done
I tell him of how thing used to be
And how he made my life quite fun
We discuss how his life may go forward
And what the future now may hold
Over the years to come he'll have to train hard
Face extreme heat and the bitter cold
But today we are spending the day
Shopping and doing things together
It's a very special time for me
A time I will treasure now forever
And it's through tears of joy, I tell you
I'm the proudest I've ever been
For next week, my baby
Leaves to become a 'Royal Marine'
Good luck!
I love you heaps

Do unto others as they do unto you BUT?????
Well guess who is back!
I passed the PRMC and it was the hardest thing i have ever done in my life, you really need to want it and be prepared for it lads, seriously. To put it into perspective 15 people out of around 44-47 failed the 3-miler, and this was the first test. I think this happened simply because they never expected the harse warm ups before every excercise and also the not too friendly warm downs afterwards. Another few lads got offered the PRMDC some of these guys failed the 3 mile squaded run, but still crossed the line without binning it and also gave the other tests a go even though being told they couldnt pass the course. One lad who was doing well broke his ankle right at the start of gym test 2 on a bench or something, and the corporal made him crawl
. So out of around 45 potentials, 25 or so men passed.
My scores.
VO2 max - 12.2
Press ups - 28
Sit ups - 62
Pull ups - 4 (kept slipping) cause im a sweaty c@#t.
3 mile run - Pass
Bottom field - Pass
Gym test 2 - Pass
Assualt course - 3.48 everything was going wrong for me here. some biff in the group before mine left one of the ropes up. and the other 2 were taken lol.
I really enjoyed PRMC and it has given me a better insight into training. I met some really good guys, which i hope i will be training with in the near future. Im really glad ive passed the PRMC but i understand that this is just the begining. Again i cant stress enough on how prepared you need to be, I mean doing the VO2 max test on its own is hard enough but its much harder after a 3 miler with a harsh warm up before. I thought i would be safe with the 8.23 PJFT result but quite simply i got decked physically and mentally. When people say when on bottom field and in the gym you are always marking time they arent lying. Even when waiting to get onto the diffrent high ropes you are marking time, After youve done this and waiting for the troop to move on you are still marking time, Even waiting to start the assualt course you are double marking time. The hardest test for me was gym test 2, and when it came to the end sprints i was hanging on by threads, and it didnt help when i got cramp in my quad before some of the sprints, but i managed to get rid off it quickly before we had to sprint and more importantly before the PTI's saw i was shaking out my quad for a second and not marking time because i simply couldnt mark time when it was cramped. Also In gym test 2 apart from the warm up and the stances, you have also got the random beastings throughout the test because of fidgeting or someone not marking time properly. These involved a few sets of 10 tuck jumps, a set of 30 and a set of 40 and these were very hard to do during the test quite simply because you are always double marking time in the gym
A good memory is how funny the corporals where with all the jokes they made. Also singing happy birthday to RM at the end of the assault course was a good point
and i cant wait till i return.
