The L42A1,built upon the Btitish Lee Enfield
Model.No4(T) was only withdrawn from service as obsolete a mere
twelve years ago.4(T) conversions from .303 to 7.62x51mm NATO began in 1970.The scope was also recalibrated for the 7.62 round and redesignated from"Telescope No.32 Mk 111"To"Telescope,Straight,Sighting,L1A1.
Once the scope and rifle were mated they remained that way for the rest of their service life.

Bang on me Luver! Teams of two were sent out one to spot, one to fire. And will tell you now, you lived together, ate together, and most importantly worked together. And after work trapped and Pi**ed up together. (best time to be honest with you all! :D )

Rank had nought to do with it either. If a Marine was number one it did not matter about the rank of the spotter at all, Number one was in charge when the sh*t was going down...........So I heard.

Can we please now stop this stupid "What have you shot" crap that is perculating onto this site. You want to learn all about muzzle velocities of various weapons then go and join www.soldierofmisfortune.com or summut like it.

Lets just have a good time hey?

1PWRR, I would tone it down a bit mate. These blokes really object to the new lads trying to lay down the law.

By the way, I seen your mob on the ITV news. Doing the business out in Basra.

To all forum members.
For the last almost two years it appears Iv'e been spoiling
these forums for the decent blokes.
1PWRR has pointed out the error of my ways and I shall in future await his direction before posting on,or reading any threads.
I apologise to all you decent blokes out there who feel Iv'e spoiled
your enjoyment of MF.

Highland snipes, there's a user on the forum known as 'Ginge'
profile.php?mode=viewprofile&u=604

I believe he was an armourer, and may be able to help with your original enquiry.
Amazing what clouds your mind when whanging along the M4 innit. :o
You should talk to somebody who gives a f**k.

We'em boring! :D

The last time I was caught being boring was when I dug some test pits in Chester whilst working for English Heritage. We discovered that the ground was made of Earth and stuff. Now that was Boring and the boring was boring as well.

I think that last sentence is correct but will accept amendments from well educated English Majors Vis a Vee it's correctness. Will finish now as I don't want to seem Boring.
