If your looking for a protein shake try Promax from www.maximuscle.co.uk. However, remember to supplement it with at least 3 weight training sessions a week and a well balanced diet.
Why do I keep finding these threads about people wanting to put on muscle? I did bodybuilding for years and its A WASTE OF F****NG TIME! You get big but you DON'T GET FIT. I was at my biggest at 13 stone (not huge, i know, but I'm 5"9 and used to weigh 11 stone) and the first time i tried to go running at this weight I was exhausted after 20 mins. I still weight train now, but instead of reps of 8 i aim for reps of 20 with lighter weight to build endurance. I do cardio 5 times a week as well. I've lost just over a stone and a little bit of strength, but I have much more stamina, I'm amazingly fitter and feel much better. And I'll get through my Army training a lot easier than I would have done had I stuck with bodybuilding. (By now I'd probably be over 14 stone and unable to run for even 10 mins)

Lee909.......you have a high metabolism as you may have guessed, go see your GP as you can change this by eating the correct foods to put on beef .
Even go to Boots and they do the high protein drinks , eat carbs like no tomorrow, pasta ,rice, spuds , if your training hard but not eating enough you`ll never put on the pounds.
Guinness, that`ll fatten you up for the kill too, but your sh*t turns BLACK and you could become an alcoholic but that isn't too bad as when you get to your unit its part of life !!

I regularly drink Guinness, love the stuff. Can't say I inspect my shits too closely, though. But I'm intrigued, and next time I have a Guinness session, I'll have a look at my crap afterwards and come back and let everyone know. Weight gain
For those who have the problem of putting on weight, you must ( as i said in my earlier post ) aim to weight train three times a week concentrating on the exercises that use most muscles ( deadlifts, squats, bench press, pull ups, dips, shoulder press etc ) and then aim to eat 2 g of protein for every kilo of your body weight. For example an 80kg man would need to eat 160 g of protein a day to increase muscle mass. As most people would find this difficult to do that is where protein shakes come in. The best being promax from maximuscle. I can also say had on heart that it actually works and is endorsed by the England Rugby team and many of the top clubs. It is also used by the English Institute of Sport. If anyone has any questions on the exercises or more nutirtional advice just send me a line.

But muscle size isn't as important as strength or overall fitness, as you yourself said in an earlier thread. In fact, muscle size isn't important at all. Weight train, by all means. It WILL help. But don't worry about how big your biceps are, as long as you can shift the weight.

unfortunately maximuscle are not paying me-if only, its just that if you ask any athlete they will probably tell you that they are a top brand and deliver results. I agree with what you said, however, i was merely responding to someone who said they wished to put weight on. And as you said at the end of the day functional strength is what every aspiring military professional should strive to achieve.

Maximuscle is a good brand. Back in the day when I used to be heavily into weight training, I also used to like Designer Whey, and Aviform were good as well (because they were cheap, pure and unflavoured products.) And I used to take Creatine. (fantastic for bulking up, if anyone's interested.)

Putting on weight is just for show, it's really popular right now, as alot of guys do it for the girls.
You wanna be lean and wired.
But if u MUST gain weight...i would try a combination of creatine monohydrate combined with Protein shakes. You would gain about 10 pounds water weight in about 2 weeks if you did it correct (atleast for me). But it just looks pretty! It ain't the real thing, so maybe do that then go off it and keep up the weights and protein.

Redhands right about the creatine as well. The weight you gain is mainly water retention. Creatine does have the added bonus of improving stamina as well. Protein builds and repairs muscle.
