Proposed Improvements to Military Forums
Jonboy and Dave, the intention is to have two areas. One accessed by paid up members, the other utilised, as now, by anyone. The latter area would be rigorously moderated, any offensive guff and it's 'bye bye Sooty.'
A probationary period in area two seems likely.
Many people may be aware of 'Friends Reunited' the site which initiated a lot of the nostalgia fad. They had enormous problems with abusive posts and phantoms causing general nausea. As soon as the site owner introduced a £5 charge for membership of the site, and a one click device for reporting abusive email/posts the site increased in popularity, the useage surged and the owners recently sold a multi-million pound enterprise. That is by no means the intention here. It is simply an attempt by the backroom staff to improve the quality of YOUR favourite site. It would be easier to let things run their course, but why should a few doomers spoil things for everybody else.
The term "WannaBee" is used liberally by myself and others. I usually don't use it to denigrate anybody, we were all wannabees at one stage, however there is a group of people out there who will never be what we were, and consequently seem spite laden, desiring, in their frustration, to spoil what these forums do for young lads, Ladies and our grizzly selves. None of the moderators want this to happen. The proposals are a positive move to improve your enjoyment of the site.

Definately up for any change implemented and also like Loz being the tight joke that i am, I will dig deep into my coffers and produce said fee. Well i'll nick it out of tommy guns wallet
I have to say that i am threaders with logging on to find 'Here look at this shite -sorry i meant site' and on logging on i find it is utter rubbish. Everybody has access to the internet and if they want to go and find utter rubbish they have the facility to do so, just please dont force it down our throats by posting it on the forum. You just have to look at the reply and view section to see nobody with a descent brain is interested in this nonsence, I left school nearly 20 years ago let playground stuff stay in the playground. Bring on the changes.

Inner circle and Outer circle? Do you get to roll up your left trouser leg and perform an upside down reverse left handed handshake like the freemasons?
Seriously, Its good to see a site like this take action against the cybernobbers out there. You only have to look at various other message boards out there (yahoo message boards and mil.com ring a bell there
) to see how a good site can be ruined by the "my dads, harder/richer/better than your dads" brigade.

Yes it seems fair to me and worth £5.00 for the lack of pop-ups, and someone has to pay for the band width. Even if worn out RM's do get generous Pensions.
Combat Engineer. during initiation ( and promotion to the 2nd and 3rd degree )Freemasons show one or the other or both of their lower legs to prove there are no scars from leg-irons and are 'freemen'. I won't explain the handshake, as I promised not to.

I have a few questions, can I pay by cheque as I’m not old enough for any type of card that would allow me to spend the banks money
is it an annual charge or a one off payment??? And how will people be vetted??? As I’m a wannabe but have found this site extremely useful!!!

It's early days yet Lew. About payment method, it would be up to Beast, but certainly cards are clean, easy and of course provide identification.
The subject of probationary periods is open at present. As soon as decisions have been made the whole forum will be advised.
Don't panic!

It's sad that it had to come to the 'us & them' scenario but I agree that it had to be. Must admit that I was getting a bit threadbare having to wade through lots of idiotic waffle just in case there was something of interest in the thread. In the end I was being very selective in what I read and I'm sure I must have missed some dits worth reading.
Of course I'm happy to pay my fiver and I assume it will be via credit/debit card. I have no doubt that Jay will ensure that the site will be secure and our card details will not be able to be accessed by any unauthorised person.

a probation period is a fantastic idea, but initially who would get into the inner sanctum to start the ball rolling. I personally think it should be only ex Royal and partners, as they know the lingo and the life, Loz is also ex Army I am also ex sorry a former ma wren. Barbie, Jules and Magz are all worthy of the 'ring of confidence' seeing as they put up with Royal every day -GOD BLESS THE GIRLIES.
