You would have thought they'd be a bit more demanding...!

Prez, the swimming test at Halton is 100m swim, 2mins treading water, and then haul yourself out of the pool unaided. All this is while wearing your flying suit.

I've just discovered I can actually do sit-ups, but I need someone to hold my feet. Either that or I need to make my wardrobe heavier, almost tipped it over today! Sounds like a good excuse to go shoe shopping... Can use the shopping bags for bicep curls too!

Stop it, I'm getting sore face chuckle muscles again.

At Deal the fighting order and rifle were supplemented with bricks or gravel to simulate weight in the pouches, then you jump in off a 1.5 metre board, surface and start swimming. Happy days.

You had to hold the butt of the SLR firmly against your own butt to prevent such abrasions. :P

When I went to OASC I got to level 11.5, however I was told this was acceptable, was expecting excellent to be honest so a slight suprise, seeing as last time I attended 10.7 was excellent.

The PTI in the hangar talked about a fitness test being introduced on IOT (not sure if this will apply to the rest of the RAF), starting with a 1.5m run, then onto press ups and sit ups immiediatley afterwards. For each test there are, going from worst to best, three zones; red, amber, green. Anyone else any info on this?

Yeah i agree, I had worked hard for the bleep test and i am relatively fit but i didnt think that my effort could be considered Excellent by the royal air forces standards. But i have read quite a few threads that suggest my score of 12.7 would be excellent...?!?

anyway that doesnt matter because my main focus needs to be to do well / survive at halton for 9 weeks :-? :D :(

Hi there,

wsop is my first choice but i have a slight leaning towards sar (sea king).
But judging by the way people look at me when i mention the sea king, maybe i need to look into it more :D I have heard it can be rather bleak!!

The nerves are starting to kick in now,, less than 48hrs to go now !!!
