Padre, The Rangers are out in Liberia at the present time, a lesser known fact was that when the Irish went over seas the Rangers were usually there before them doing recces and working with other SF units, again under the UN mandate.

How do ? Aldo you never answered my question? In anyway I never knew
contraband substances were allowed on the long drag.?!

Harry they are modelled on the us rangers and train with them but the arw is a long the same lines as the sas, delta.I know the aussies were highly impressed by them in east timor. The chief in command wrote a letter of commendation to the defence forces of the highest appraisal.
Did you serve with the sas?

What`s arthur guinness like down under?I`ve heard it does`nt travel well..?

Garryowen, I`ve heard they`ve been on operations in western africa, the leb, bosnia etc probably all under a un mandate.

One thing isn`t known, have they operated overseas in conflicts without operating under the un .Sources here in the pale say that they`ve never been in actual combat, but that`s a naive assertion. At home they known to have carried out intelligence gathering op`s against subversives.

They have carried out covert ops against the IRA and other republicans along the border area in the past and presently I will not elaborate any further on that particular issue. Overseas wise they are mainly on UN ops but with any SF unit there is more going on than meets the eye I cant say definitively but I will leave it up to your own judgement.

Best pint in Perth is the Irish club, no surprises there then. Not as good by any means as even an English pint. It`s the one thing I miss

Aldo did you serve in the sas? Eh harry I meant the pint of guinness down under.

Garryowen you might no more about the selection course and the new format- kilo one .Have you any info on it?I saw on the gign home page that the pass rate for the arw selection course is around 15%.But that site has since gone, strangely enough.

I know that half the unit are sniper qualified ,what are the no`s that are halo ,haho qualified?

And finally Garryowen how hard is it to get tabbed?...That`s if you know of course.

To go back to the original thread, for a change. Expanding Secial Forces is easy - you just reclassify the Royal Marines and the Parachute Regiment. :o :D :D

Hey ho problem solved, Bobs your Auntie, as long as the ungratefull b*st*rds don't want extra pay.

Look for the post about how sf classed or something like that, but the short answer is Royals and Paras are not classed as SF. The only ones we have are SBS and SAS.

PS I told Kd but I don't know if he saw it.

Does anybody on this board know if the sas and the yanks took part in the international CTC(combat-team-competition) held in Germany by
the federal intervention unit GsG-9.

Basically it was a comp testing all aspects of special operations with emphasis on endurance, tact, guile ,intelligence etc...The results are as follows: 1st-Austrian COBRA,2nd-Spanish GEO,3rd-Irish Army Ranger Wing.

As far as copetitions go I heard this was dog hard. The physical and mental testing was extermely rigorous.

Aldo how do I get an avatar?

P.s excuse me that I`m not talking about the original contents of the thread. All the best.
