OH my lord, right you lot! Stay away from the livery stables my 4 legged friend hangs out at. He has 'complex' issues and needs to have the attention of the 'king' status, no repeating this, I mean NO repeating this to any animal what so ever!!
Was once many Moons ago at the Barracks near Windsor Castle. Think it was near Slough. We were working a Radio Re-Broadcast when 42 CDORM were all driving from Bickleigh to Harwich to deploy to Norge on a few of them DFDS Roll on Roll off Ferries. Vehicles and really hacked off Bootnecks all over the place so there was.
After a lot of fatharseing around we had the FFR and the 9 x 9 all set up and running nicely when this Ere bloke came up and told me to move my Set up as I was in a spot where the officers were going to park their cars later on in the day. Seemed that the Officers Mess were having a Cock & Arse Party that night and we were in the way.
Looked at this bloke long and hard and told him to bugger off as we had been told we were all right where we were by the bloke in the Guardroom.
"I'm a Cpl of Horse!" he retorted.
"Well I'm a Cpl of Marines sunshine so sod off & annoy someone else!" I replied.
Bloody stupid rank structure you lot have! How the flying feck was I to know that he was an SNCO!?!?!?!?! As it was some Officer turned up and in the end it was sorted out without any further trouble.
Right, don't be fooled, he is a stunning horse and I reckon could give you all a run for your money (seen animal farm recently??). He is a 5yr old French barb, called him Hercules, don't ask!
Sorry, I'll leave all the horsing around stuff to you now!

Funny that, we had some Majors who had the brains of rocking horses and they expected to be saluted. Perhaps we could organise an exchange.
That way we'd get old Dobbin as Company commander (no loss there) and you'd get sir as an eating and neighing machine usefull for very little. It's a plan with no downside!!

I miss having horses. Alweays dod as a kid. My pony rolled on me when I was four and my old mum put me straight back on. Got thrown many a time. Scariest one was when I was about 14 going down a windy country lane south of Preston. On a corner was a big round mirror so the farmer could see his way safely out of his driveway. Just as my horse got level with it, she caught her reflection a freaked out, shying to the right, right into the path of a big flat-bed truck. Luckily he had quick reactios and swerved to take out about 20 feet of hedge. I'd just about fouled my breeks on that one!
Another time, I arrived home from school to find a police car and an ambulence out our farm. My mum had been riding a big 17 hand gelding in the back field and he'd throuwn her. Then he cam back and stomped the crap out of her breaking her neck, a cheek bone, a collar bone and cracking an eye socket. As soon as she was able to get out of bed she was right back on that horse with her neck in a brace. She never once said a negative word about that horse, but instead gave herself shyte for not knowing the horse well enough. A valuable lesson for wee me at the time.
Doesn't look like I will have the time to get my barn fixed up in time for getting some horses this year, but will get to it in the spring. Here thayhave "Quearter Horses". Very tough and hardy cowboy horses. Low maintenance and they go forever.
