Many "straight" (I hate that term) people have to face prejudices throughout their lives too.
On the Trades union front though, doesn't it do more harm than good to have a trade union for solely people who are gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgenders.
I'm not saying that there shouldn't be one, I just wondered if it didn't make the members more susceptible to being singled out because of the card they carried.
I want to find out about it before I apply for one

well since you've enlightened us with your presence there have been a few posts that detail attitudes in this environment, namely IT IS OKAY TO BE GAY, but these people will get more stick than the average joe bloggs simply because of their sexuality. and before you go off one one, yes it may seem unfair but that's life and, as Artist has already said, the attitudes of a whole culture will not change simply because it becomes illegal to do so. if you have not got the answer you want to hear please go and 'fuel a debate' somewhere else. www

well done, now do you promise not to come back? replying to this will break that promise. wwwjulientw wrote:Thank you for your kind advice, but I think I have already suceeded in changing a few attitudes here already.Wee Willy Winkie wrote:well since you've enlightened us with your presence there have been a few posts that detail attitudes in this environment, namely IT IS OKAY TO BE GAY, but these people will get more stick than the average joe bloggs simply because of their sexuality. and before you go off one one, yes it may seem unfair but that's life and, as Artist has already said, the attitudes of a whole culture will not change simply because it becomes illegal to do so. if you have not got the answer you want to hear please go and 'fuel a debate' somewhere else. www

'stem the debate'? was i the one who brought a thread started back in September of 2004 to light again, for nothing more than to seek opinions, knowing you would not get the response a gay person would want. This merely allowed you to carry on, if we said we all for gays then would you have gone away a long time ago? wwwWell seeing as you are only one member of this forum, I think it would be unfair for you to stem the debate, or make demands that it is not your place or position to make.

I think you are the one who is being presumptious now Julien.julientw wrote: If you would like more information please feel free to email me off forum. And no I have a partner and I am not trying to convert anyone, just in case the assumption is made

There is no way I could ever be interested in you.
I am female....not only that I am married with kids.
I just wondered if I could have a card in this age of equal rights and what not, or if being hetro, I was excluded from being in your gang.
As for thinking that you have changed attitudes round here, I think you'll find that you haven't.
I know personally a lot of people on this Forum, and I also know that none of them are homophobic.
What really irritates is ANYONE reardless of age, colour, creed or sexual orientation coming on here and ramming opinons - and that is ANY opinion- down their throats.
Reasoned debate is more than acceptable, but you cannot have that with someone who is unwilling to even have a glimpse into where the other person is coming from.
I commend you for being so vociferous about something you obviously have such strong feelings about, however please consider how others think and feel too.
You are no different to anyone else, being gay does not make you different or special or anything else.
However, coming on here with your attitude "I'm gay and proud and you lot are all prejudiced against gays" makes you just as biggoted as you like to think everyone here is.

For your information I am a Freelance Administrative Consultant and Director of Operations for a holding company, but then again you did ask, and my partner is in the RAF, which is more of a military connection than you seem to have being a student, but hey, forums will let anyone in these days! even if they have no military connections
