Yeah right, that's a brilliant idea...
All the blokes would be claiming to be gay just to be in the same billet as the girls!
Don't think so somehow...

I for one would not like to serve in the Armed Forces with a sodomite.

I love gays, i think there brilliant, the more the merrier i say.
In responce to someone's post about not wanting to share a trench with 'one' in case they try and bugger them, maybe 'they' joined the forces to serve there country-like you, and not to try and take advantage of hetro men when there backs turned.
Contary to popular opinion there not all sex mad, and i doubt very much that just because your male there going to fancy you. There's been gays in the forces since the beggining of time, whether they've 'come out' or remained silent through out there service-they've fought regardless, side by side with herto males and 'they'll' continue to do so for all the same reason's as straight people, why should anybody care if someone is gay?.
It's like I said on another post, it's a fact of life that a lot of soldiers dislike gays. If there's one in a section I should imagine the section not working as effectively as it could. And if they don't let women fight on the front line for reasons of morale, and situations where the males would try to protect the females etc. then why let gays in, when the same things could happen? Two soldiers having regular sodomy sessions will probably want to protect each other, f**k the rest of the section. Straight men, if you and your girlfriend/wife were in a fighting unit, wouldn't you find yourself watching her back more than anyone else's? I'm sure a gay couple would be the same. It's not about being PC, it's about deciding what's best for the forces.
If someone wants to call me a homophobe for this, carry on. It's just a label people stick on you if you don't see things their way. And I couldn't really give a f**k.

I have never had a problem serving alongside gays.
I knew one guy who was so far back in the closet that he lived in Narnia and the rest of the gang taunted him mercilessly............because he would not shut up about God.
Gay was no issue.
Born again Christian made him very unpopular.

I'm assuming this is some sort of warped Anglican/post modern thing? That one can be actively homosexual while being Christian? It is not a sin to be tempted, only to act upon it.
As for being taunted for being a christian, im a Christian, but not of the evangelical form, but i would not deny it. But...if i was taunted about it, im not the type to take it, whoever taunted would regret it.
Unless of course RSM's are allowed to do that during drill or gettin beasted...then it would be a conundrum.
My point is that the guys took him at face value. He didn't try and get any soldiers in bed with him so nobody cared but he started to upset people when he thrust god at them.
I even served at one time with a man who had converted to the witnesses, he didn't refuse to serve any longer, he didn't try and sell watchtowers to people, he just kept schtum and got on with his job so everyone else left him alone.
There is a gay guy who works here and the only reason we found out he was gay was because we walked into a local gay bar and he was there with his partner. (We use the gay bar sometimes because it is enroute to the town and serves the best pint of Boddingtons for miles around and is quite a good laugh with good music). The guy in question is not out but it is known that he bats for the other side. He has never made a move on anyone that I know of and he is a decent enough bloke, gay or straight.

I'm not gay and I have served over 16 years in the Army. Personally, I don't give a damn if there are gays/bisexuals in the Forces. Whatever they want to do in private and in their own time is frankly up to them and none of my business. Similarly I would expect a similar approach from them. I believe that, in general, gays are no more promiscuous than heterosexuals. How many stories have recent appeared in the press dealing with members of the forces caught out in heterosexual affairs?
If we look to prevent gays from working in the forces, how do you deal with women working in units. Is anyone really going to deny that there's no sexual harrassment in any unit?
By accepting everybody irrespective of their sexuality but applying a code of practice on acceptable behaviour we at least ensure that we can deal with everybody as fairly as possible.
Er Loz, think Sticky's local is in Portsmouth, twas me that has visited a gay bar in Manchester.
But then there's just so many of them it's more difficult to find a straight bar round here!
