Not long at all no, can't wait to start now, I would start tomorrow if I had the option lol

Royal Signals - Communication Systems Operator

I joined the Gym after passing ADSC, before that I just ran 3Miles 3 days a week.

Now that I'm a Member of a Gym, I do 5 days a week and each day I do the following:

3Mile Jog or 1.5Mile Run (depends on my mood)
3Mile Static Bike (Medium Resistance)
2k Rowing machine (Highest Resistance)
10 Pull ups
50 Sit ups (holding a 4kg ball above head)
20 Press ups
10 x 5 sets of all the resistance machines (11 machines - high resistance)
1 Mile or half Mile Swim (depends how far I ran on treadmill prior)

I eat porridge for breakfast before going the Gym, then eat a large bowl of pasta when I get home 5 days a week, pigging out on the weekend with Sunday Roasts and plenty of Fruit.

I've recently finished a short fitness coarse at my local college to learn a little about fitness and the risks of injury, since then have started taking cod liver oil tablets and have improved my stretching knowledge before and after using each machine.

sorry for essay haha.

I guess the wait is the worst part. How long did the process take for you personally, from application to where tou are now? I guess by your timeline 6 months?

If you dont mind me asking millar but how old are you? By how you write i'd guess between 25-30?

The wait is the worst part, I made my first application around January (I think) and about a Month or 2 ago I done ADSC.

I met a few hurdles along the way, such as Pre Selection I failed it due to my run time being to slow, I wasn't aware that you had to beat 11mins for Pre-Selection, because for my Job I only needed 14.30 (I got 11.56 first attempt) but apparently different recruitment offices have different times they like people to beat, then I re-attempted my Basic Skills 3 times because I wanted perfect scores in both Maths and English, so I could get the Jobs: Communication System Engineer and Electronic Warfare Operator, but narrowly missed out on the required score in English each attempt, oh and I got medically differed for a week once I actually got to ADSC due to a possible Heart Merma which turned out to be nothing.

So yea the application process can take a while, but as you can see that's mostly due to me personally holding it up, so that I knew I was giving myself the best chances.

Oh and I'm 21, yourself?

So even with the problems and set backs you had its not been as long as I thought.

Yeah thats why i'm giving it a bit of time before i start it all up make sure im 100%.

Hopefully i wont have trouble with a medical although i cant be 100% certain as i had a collapsed lung when i was 17, but from what i've read it shouldnt matter as long as it was 4 years ago and theres been no re-occurance? Not that it really affects my fitness nowadays.

Im hoping that because infantry is always needed the wait wont be too long once i start, but if it is i guess it justs gives me more training time lol

Im 21 as well, you from Liverpool? Or did you get the short straw when picking out teams to support? Lol

I'd start the application process now really, you can always pause it or tell your adviser you need more time, they will let you decide how fast you want the application process to be.

Yea think aslong as it hasn't effected you for 4 years, they do all there own separate tests for all that anyway so you should be fine.

Yea I'm from Liverpool best f@#k Team in the World! lol

So the run I done was about 3miles it was hard and I walked half of it overall the 1.5 took me 12.57 and some of that was walking and the total 3miles took 30.37 it was all pretty flat and concrete so no real test. Also had a cold bath after which I've never done before and it was the best feeling in the world!

I also went to the army office today and spoke to the guy there which was good and got some info about the regs and TA, so all i need to do now is join the gym 2moro and hit it hard for 2months and try and get my fitness up.

Looks like were all a similar age then. keep me posted with your progress guys

I went from 19stone to currently 14st 4lb from just eating healthy, no particular diets. I also started going to British Military Fitness classes and they've helped me no end! I've never been so fit.. really worth looking into if you theres one close by and can afford it.

Well done oaten, if that was a first run and got under 13 minutes even with walking some you should be happy. Seeing as all you can do is improve from that. I'm gonna do my first timed run this weekend, hopefully wont be too bad, doubt it'll be quie as good as under 13 though, but i'll keep you posted. You never know oaten we might end up training together lol

You couldnt do a lot worse to be fair millar lol THE MIGHTY SPURS! Considering the whole Harry for england 3/4 way through our season i think we had a smashing season, unbelievably unlucky to not get champions league but nevermind lol.

You have actually been gradually improving with each season, nice to see another Team other than Chelsea and Man U contending for the Top spots

I've had all 4 Interviews

1. When you first walk through the Door at the Office

2. None formal Interview

3. Formal Interview

4. Interview at ADSC with Officer

They're really friendly from my experience, lookily the Captain that interviewed me at ADSC studied at the same University as me, which was a fantastic conversation starter, she also knew the restaurant my Mum used to own, she couldn't have been anymore pleasant in my opinion, she made things very relaxing and cheery really, same with the Interviews at the Office, but everyone has different experiences it's really just the luck of draw who you get really, I wouldn't worry to much though, because at the end of the day they have been sat were you are before and they should respect that.
