It's the ARMY - they're not supposed to be medical specialists! That's what the NHS is for!

The urine test is not just a drugs test, they also check for the presence of protein, glucose or blood, which would indicate any number of internal problems such as diabetes or kidney disease.
You can have peace.
Or you can have freedom.
Don't ever count on having both at once.

From what it costs to train a recruit, it doesn't cost the Army much to pay for train tickets and selection to make sure the potential recruit is up to the training both physically and mentally. From what i have seen, it takes around £24-26,000 to train and infantry soldier in the 26 weeks or so of phase 1 and 2, that cost will go up if the recruit suffers and injury in training, so it's in the best interest for them to make sure the recruit will be as durable as possible.

From the employer's point of view, it makes sense...from our point of view it's frustrating, but still it's best to know if we are healthy, even if we don't make it into the army.

I attended Glencorse for selection yesterday and got defferred at medical for heart murmur, the doc said he is convinced its innocent as it was very faint but as he had heard it it had to be checked out properly, so got an appointment in manchester on wednesday for full scan and check up.

Only been defferred for 6weeks in total though so not too bad, one lad got defferred for 2 YEARS for once having a migraine!

In total i think it was 9 lads defferred yesterday.

Also if anyone does get defferred on there selection the doc informed me that the test results last for 12months so you SHOULD only have to reattend the medical to blast through everything quickly and confirm that everything is still fine and dandy.

Good luck to all those attending ADSC selection soon!

Cheers all.
