Totally agree with this comment. If you try for the Para's (or Marines, if your that way inclined  ) and don't get the required standards, at least you can say you tried! Clearly the 'green', infantry side appeals to you mate, so give it a shot! It may mean training harder to get better times etc, but it can be done! :D

No disrespect to the Rifles by the way! 8)

Airborne Legend wrote:That's cool, just letting you know that from my experience whenever I'm talking to normal infantry guys they always go on about wanting to do various things and never getting round to it once they get to battalion. I just figured if you're interested in the commando course, why not go Royal Marines?
The careers office guys fill your head full of sh*t sometimes to try and put you where they want you... just keep an open mind and look into other places too.
Right now I am 100% about the Rifles. The reference I made about the commando course was meant in a way that if in the future I did change my mind then the all arms commando course was there for me to do in 1 Rifles therefore keeping the door slightly open. I appreciate your advice and will take it on board.

I`ll be going suited and booted to the interview. Also my recruiter is in the rifles so that may be an advantage. Been reading up loads though so i`m pretty confident.

send in your application now, start getting medical on its way as that can take ages. speak with your recruiter about it as there is no limit on how long an application can take so get as much done thats just forms while your still at college. that way you get in as quick as possible after college with as little witing for forms as possible

No messing around there then. I had to wait a month from my interview to selection - I've got selection on the 21st may. Have you been training hard?
