well the best irons are those steam generator irons but cost in excess of £100 and would take up a bit of space. But the constant amount of steam on these puppies are like the shots/bursts of steam on a conventional iron. They are supposed to be fantastic at getting creases out in no time at all.

god i dont wanna be spending to much on a iron.. lol my poor dad gotta fork out the money for it lol. with the checklist i got given would anybody know if its a good idea to take a headtourch and a maglite?

they say there good to take but i was wondering if anybody else has bought one to take with them?

i took a min maglight when i went. Another one I'd say take with you is a few camo stuff stacks to put bits n bats into when your out in the field, they come in handy! Also sort out a small,compact wash kit rather than a big one - again for when your in he field. I found gettin a karribiner was a good idea to allow quick attachment of your combat helmet to your webbing.

thanks for your help.. seen a good mini mag lite for 20 pound and it comes with differnt colour lights red and blue which my dad (ex raf) said come in handy for cover of darkness. what you reckon?

just type in stuff sack or stash bag on google or in a mil surplus online shop and hey presto! Carribiner is a c shaped climbing accessory with a locking gate to attach ropes etc. in this case however you will use it to attach the chin strap of your helmet to your webbing - very handy when your marching about all over and you want your helmet stowed away quickly and neatly,trust me.
You get issued torches with the various filters. i prefered mini mag lights just purely because I could attach a lanyard to it and keep it on my person at all times as it could be stowed away into a pocket as it was so small.

mini maglites with the additional red filters are on ebay selling at roughly £6.50. probably exactly the same as you have seen for £20. and they are proper original maglites in the packaging brand new

oops as you were. i gave you duff gen, it was the maglite solitare i was referring to.
4Para as a young un.
RAF Regt later on but had to come out due to detaching retina.

yea the solitaire maglite is good, as it is so small.
ive got one, and one of the ones that i put in the link.
haven seen any red filters for the solitaire

does it matter if you dont take a torch...i got a head torch with normal light on and red?

Hand torch is prefered but it doesn't have to be a mini mag light, mini's are just easier to carry, i've got a midi LED torch with a 100% 75% 50% 25% light setting on it and has a holder to clip to webbing. light shade isn't a big issue either (so i'm told)

Both is preferable, my head torch also does the same lol, head ones would i guess mostly be used for easy map reading, hand torch for.. something else...lol

headtorches are good for all round use, when your allowed to use light ect.
but when you need light quick or need only a small amount of light the torch is better. a good small one( does not have to be maglite). its quicker to get out and more space saving in the combat jackets/webbing

my opinion anyhow
