Diet Ok OR Crap??
Boxers use sweat suit before way in's to lose water weight faster, they also train in them to place there body in a more uncomfortable situation when training(mainly a mental thing)and that’s only some boxers views, others don't believe there is any benefit to them what so ever. I personally would much rather be hydrated and switched on when training to put 100% into it where ever I can.
Try going 8 rounds on a bag with a sweat suit on then another day in normal cloths... there’s a huge difference, but as for losing fat or having any direct physical benefits there are non. You just lose more water.
Un-less your training to be a boxer and wish to use this as a means of getting use to rapid dehydration then go do it under supervision and even then the hole theory is yet to be proven... I certainly don’t see the need for one.
As for training for the forces, as has been said, no need for anything more than tons of food and water and a good solid training schedule.
(just read that last paragraph though and it sound like I’m trying to make out I’ve been there and done it... I haven't and I aren’t trying to make out like I have, just going off other peoples views from the forums etc)
It's not a science so don’t make it one, the only reason I’m into my sports science crap and I admit have to diet my self occasionally is because I’m currently training to box (short term goal ) which is a weight governed sport and with the hope of being a Royal Marine in later life (long term goal).

Sweating does contribute to the losing of weight gents...but over sweating may be just a temporary solution...I dont really know, I just know thats how my friends lose weight for fights.
Degrees of Passion, I thought the same thing about the use of water but electrolite drinks replensish just that, your electrolites....water does not do so. Our body has five essential electrolites and drinks such as eload replensih all five...gaterade poweder or drink only 2 and water not even 2.
That's what I found when I researched the topic.....I run 7 days a week and sweat a lot but i drank 8-9 glasses of water a day and was still dehydrated all the time.....Since eload I have been fine.
A fighter won't loose 10lbs actually FOR the fight mate
Weight = Strength (very basically)
And if you run 7days a week you're a bit silly really...
Agree with your first point, but the weight = strength thing I have to disagree with, I know plenty of people who are heavier than me, but couldn't lift half as much, with out going into to much detail, look at a light weight power lifter, now take a 200 pound body builder, there’s a good chance the light power lifter can lift more due to a more developed CNS amongst other things.robbiedont wrote:lil_dinger_bell wrote:Your right about the losing weight thing, my friends do usually gain those 10 pounds back after the fight, although they do eat all the foods they couldn't whilst trianing so that could also contribute. Of course a heavy weight power lifter will life more than a light weight one and a agree with you in that sense but weight doesn't necessarily = strength.
And yes it would be daft for a person to run 7 times a week if he hadn't built up to it but there are plenty of professional runners and athletes who do road work every day, all to do with work capacity and building up to that leave of fitness. (and I don’t necessarily mean they run at there hardest I.E. wreck them selves each day)
Not being picky or arguing mate, just a light hearted debate

Sorry for being a annoying little git.

For my last fight i was walking around at 90+kg and my fight weight is 84kg so theres 13+lbs
What I meant is they won't loose 10lbs in sweat and NOT then put it straight back on before the fight!
And when I said weight = strength I meant that pretty loosely as in if you drop a lot of weight pretty quickly you are going to loose some strength as well...

lil_dinger_bell wrote:Stokeys right, there are tons of runners who run everyday. Theres nothing wrong or silly with it. It's suggested to get 40 mintues a day of CV for fully balanced lifestyle.
CV can be just walking though, people who RUN 7 days a week have spent a while working up to it.
Rest is just as important.

Well walking is a poor excse for CV, we walk everywhere..from the tv to the fridge, to the fridge to the toilet, to get the paper at the end of the driveway...by the end of the day anyone would rack up thier 40 mintues CV...walking is CV for people over 60, next you'll be adding a good w@#k to your CV routine.
And of course you shouldnt be running 7 days a week without working up to it, like anything you need time to work to a point of performance It took me a good 4-5 months to be able to run 7 days a week 5 miles a day. I do rest every other week though when my work schedual catches up to me.
And the UFC weighs in the day before I beleive, because they always eat the things they wish they could eat pre-weigh-in right after they weigh in....(don't know if you guys get the UFC reality show 'ultimate fighter' in the UK?)
