Druadan is it true they test Scoucers and Mancunians most?druadan wrote:CDT (compulsory drug testing) is completely random, they show up anywhere at any time and test anyone they like (camp's are locked down when they're in) and no-one knows they're coming. They were even here a couple of weeks back.

no but alcohol and cigarettes are legal and weed an ecstasy is not,so the point im making is clearly they are not as dangerous(by how many die on average a year as a result of their use) as the legal drugs yet many people think they are and the government feels the need to make them illegal and hence they wrongly get a much worse stigma than alcohol and cigarettes.
Let us therefore brace ourselves to our duties, and so bear ourselves that, if the British Empire and its Commonwealth last for a thousand years, men will still say, 'This was their finest hour'

what a load of bollocks! Incase you didnt notice alcohol and cigarettes ARE DRUGS,so of course you can compare them! This is exactly my point, just because the government deems them legal for use does not mean they arent in the same category of some illegal drugs as far as health risk is concerned. They are also highly susceptible to abuse, and kill more people on average a year.Dont misread what im saying,im not saying that certain illegal drugs are safe, but many people, probably including yourself, seem to have this delusion that they are so much more dangerous than legal drugs like booze and fags, and that the legal drugs are somehow perfectly safe and fine to use because of a legislation-not true.foxtrotgolf wrote:To be completley honest, I really don't have any time for people who take drugs. You cannot compare beer/cigarettes with any illegal drug, the comparison is totally spurious mate.
Drugs are for losers who cannot deal with reality! And hippies! (one and the same thing really)
If drugs are for losers then everyone of us is a loser because we take drugs all the time, from the highly addictive caffeine to the common parecetomol.
Hippies?Grow up mate have you just seen something on TV depicting the 60s and thats what you've based your assumption on?If you happened to open your eyes you'd notice that many many different walks of life do many kinds of illegal drugs, from working class teenagers getting stoned and pilled up to royalty riding the white horse.Dont be so naive to think that only 'hippies' do drugs.Even highly reputed people have been known to dabble in drugs, from people in the police department to people in government. Some of the best musical talent harnessed drugs for creativity such as the beatles, bloody hell even shakespear used drugs!Oh ye and some may have seen that granny in the news who uses cannabis for medicinal purposes for example. The whole hippy/acid thing is very much a thing of the past.
Im not defending drug use one bit, like i said, its your choice,if people make that choice then good for them, let them get on with it(unless they are in any armed service of course, then its unacceptable),but please dont be so narrow minded and call them hippies and losers.

Shurly the reson more people die from alchol and tobaco is becasue it legul there for its easly available and cheeper than the likes of canabis and ecstacy.
More people drink and smoke than do harder drugs there for the death rate is higher. If all of the people who go to a pub on a friday night went out and poped 5 pills the death rate of ecstacy users would be higer than that of alchol.
I have slightly diffrent veiws on canabis, i would never do it my self but i no people who do and with good reson (I.E medical) i think people who do it for "fun" are daft but there is evidence that canabis can actually help certan illness such as arthritus and MS.
stokey
( i hope this doesn't sound like im defending drug users because i do think there daft and destroying there life but i have read and seen/heard first hand evidence that canabis has helped in certan curcumstances)

yes alcohol is a toxin, essentially a poison if you like, but by definition it is also a drug:It is a chemical substance that affects the central nervous system, causing changes in behavior and often addiction. And it certainly alters your state of mind.I see where your coming from i just wish you'd be a bit more open minded and realistic about the issue, chances are that many many people around you(your mates and maybe even your family) have at some point experimented with illegal drugs at some time in their life, not that they'll readily admit it.Im not pro drugs or anything im just not that naive and more realistic. While i would call them a 'waste of space',i'd certainly say that drug DEPENDENCE is a sad thing, and i dont agree with consistent and prolonged use of any drug.So finally we sortof agree just with different perspectives
Stokey_14:Its alot more complicated than the fact that its 'legul'.I dont want to get into it but what i will say is that as far as social concerns go,well,i can guarantee you'll never get any trouble off someone pilled up or stoned, whereas someone drunk is a different matter:your much more likely to see violence and bloodshed with a drunk.

Drugs in the armed forces is unacceptable.
But i guess im more open minded as yes anyone who is addicted to a substance i think is more or less a.... well i wouldn't say a waste of space as you never know how they got there is the first place(abused etc..) But I myself like alot of others have taken drugs for a good time and well it was bloody great haha but like people drink alcohol to get pi**ed and have a laugh people take drugs for the same reason. The difference is knowing when to stop. So ever since I decided to join the marines I stopped drugs(dont get me wrong here i wasnt a druggie just every once in while like on nights out) and also stopped drinking maybe once a month, sad i know!
Basicaly each to there own and like everthing be sensible in what you do. Just because someone has taken drugs doesnt make them a waste of space.
