1812USMarine.... Thanks for the reply, I was begining to think my posts to the colonies were invisable.
With Ref your: 'mine can still make 3.5 kts. under sail'!!! It is a well known Nautical fact that, if the Royal Navy were to remove the bloody great dry dock from around the Victory, she would be capable of inexcess 4kts under full sail..... allbeit for a short burst !...... and, by the way. My Black Cat is Blacker that YOURS!

Talking of the Victory... anyone wanna buy this genuine piece of HMS Victory? £20... £25... £30... £35... do I hear £40? Ok so you don't want the Victory... what about a genuine button of Nelson's tunic... no? Look mate... I don't do this for everyone but I have got just one... Me mate, nah not me, I wouldn't be trying to rip anyone off

There is still a working office on the Victory... Is that therefore the oldest office in the Navy?

Ah Sticky Blue I see you have been mixing with the Victory Guides again,It so happens I have before me a 32lb cannon ball as used at Trafalgar?(sent a diver down to retrieve after the battle) or how about a musket ball the same one that felled his Lordship personally endorsed by that Sgt of Marines Secker.Aye JR

I have in my possession an original piece of Oak hull on it is an original sheath of copper from the bottom of the ship and under a piece of perspex is a piece of the original sail (Gallant Top) as used at Trafalgar.... To Black Cat that... Nelsons tunic was at one time kept in the Victory Museum, and I, being the smallest on board, was able to wear it for a couple of minutes. (unofficially of course), Twas a wee biy musty too?

Contractor: Ah, I see. Absolutely this invite is extended to pongos as well. I am the issue of a 21-year Army man, all of whose ancestors served in HM Army forces, and a product of the US Army Reserve Officers Training Corps (after my active duty Navy and prior to my present Leatherneck assignment). You'll just have to learn to sleep in a hammock and not retch into the wind.

That'll be a Mic with spreaders, Fore and Aft I take it and as for a Four finger spread always over the leeside no flurries. Do we get a Tot while on board or do we have to put a drip chit in. Another thing are we aloud to grow, a full set that is, or do we have to have a chit for that....................Tell me, what is the rabbit run like and is there any chance of trapping!, Not that it will worry me ....coz I'm a plumbs rating

After the war of 1812 and the lessons learned, the Royal Navy decided that it was better to win without even having to fight. There began a modernisation programme which ensured Britania Ruled The Waves for the next 102 years. There were no major sea engagements till WW1 because no-one dared.

Well, now it`s your lot`s turn. The most powerfull weapon in the history of the planet is the United States Navy. They had the best possible role model For all our wind-ups, we do recognise the truth when it bites us on the arse

"Rule Elmer, Elmer rules the waves" doesn`t quite have the same ring to it as those earlier times

OK Mike, let's see now -- Something about an Irishman with a fat belly and a broad arse, don't get that one; 2) you can only draw your grog ration on Oct 21 at 1300hrs, that's the ship's birthday, and she is the only US ship allowed to do that; 3) you can no longer have full beards in the USN, that was allowed in modern times only during the reign of Elmo Zumwalt, the Chief of NavOps late 60s early 70s, now only mustaches regulation trim. The last one means, I'm guessing, is that you want to know the lady situation and if it's easy to score, but you really don't care because you, ahem, "play for the other team"? Is that about it??
