What's even more worrying, is that they probably can't even swim!! (Although, that probably isn't too important anymore!)
I'm with you, - why change a succesful system?
What is the SBS doing in the middle of the Iraqie desert?
And why do the SAS need a boat troop? (What colour is it anyway!!!!?)

I think it was a big mistake to become "so close".
I think it was a big mistake to have "joint selection". Each force has different needs.

And now we have each unit "complementing" the other and able to "relieve" each other in the field

What a load of bollocks and a waste of each units, unique capabilities!

Sounds like a good idea to me.
Same sort of idea as me, but i have to do my A-Levels as of yet, but i'm unsure of to do them as of yet because i can't be arsed with school and where i live is really dull and theres sodd all to do.

My eyesight also sucks, but it's probably just fine for SF, but i want to know something, does anyone know if my colour blindness would affect my chances, i have read something about some research into colour blind people being able to see camo better, something to do with the unatural colours, anyone know if SF accept colour blindness?

Sorry to burst your bubble but you won't even pass RSC if your colour blind never mind get to SF selection.

They're very strict on the medicals and that would be enough to be failed.

There was actually a lad on mine who was failed through colour blindness.

To put things into perspective for you I have just narrowly passed the medical for RM and I am colourblind. When I went for an eyetest at the opticians he said I was only a mild red-green but that was still enough for me to have to go to Brighton for a second colour perception test.

I would imagine therefore, as Alfa said, that SF would bin anyone with a hint of it.

Like most of the armed forces I would expect that it would depend on the severity of your colour perception, read General Billieres story, he had a colour deficiency but still made it into the SAS.

ARRRRRRRG that's so annoying my colour blindness has stopped me from doing anything i have ever wanted to do, pilot, loadie, fire fighter.
The regiment was something i've wanted to do since i was 8 and im always getting pushed back and so frustrating.
it's the only reason why i started martial arts, for fitness, and being good at hand to hand combat which something i love, seems pointless now.

Sorry i didn't reply sooner i've been busy.

Gutted, what with all that 'hand to hand' combat; you'd have been a shoe-in.

Bloody hell, dragging that up from a while back. But fair enough i'll answer

I had been following this persons postings for a while when i originally posted that. I was impressed by his levels of maturity, intelligence and (apparent) raw ambition. These I personally believe are the most essential qualities a Royal Marine needs before he even thinks about physical fitness.

Was I wrong? Time will tell. For now I stand by my comment. Hope that's clarified the issue Harry.

21st June of this year. Its not that far back :o .

P.S Sonne how would you know what the qualitys of an excellent bootneck are?

Not trying to cause an argument but you say you stand by what you wrote and without first hand experience of what qualitys an excellent Bootneck has or without even meeting the person who you say is going to be an excellent Bootneck you cant really make a statement like that.

Just thought it was a bit of a silly statement to make thats all.
