Jesse, in answer to your questions, yes and yes.

Y Tp has already been mentioned. There are also places on courses at DSL (Defence School of Langauges at Beaconsfield) - they have 4 wings; English (for non-swimmers), Arabic, Western European Languages (French, Spanish, German etc) and Slavonic Languages (Russian, Polish and Serbo Croat).

Most courses are colloquial - 4 to 6 months (all ranks). If you have a language track record you may be able to pull a Diploma course (18 months ish) to degree level.

I was a Rubber Dagger (many moons ago) and have met a fair few Royals there (Offr & OR) over the last few years.

There are a few other locations where you can pick up a language - foreign schools, on exchange and a couple of other places in the UK.

Ikke dårlig dere !

A Bootneck can always get by - however -
Geordie/Bootneck - Bootneck/Geordie dictionary and a bit of Norwegian
are a saving grace.....

Jesse - Drop the Spanish, French and German - you'll soon pick those languages up if you have to occupy the places again.....

I've lived here for thirty seven years and they're now picking up a bit of
Geordie palaver.... they're really quite clever.

Especially Bent and Randi...

I'd love to learn a new language... but I dunno which one I'd do. :)

When I went out to the Oman they sent me on an Arabic course. I failed but the instuctor said that I had worked very hard and my English had improved 100%
