Ok cheers sticky and Cliodna ill post in a couple of days tell you what they said. Your right its gonno be hard keeping out of trouble when i no i could make 1-2k in couple of days but if i get into the habbit ill end up in some prison somehwere and wont be able to get out of the habbit and the last thing i want is to be locked up when im 40-50 with no family support and no nothing.
I'm up for giving this a crack and ill speek to my paroll oficer aswel about maybe geting some training to do somehtin like building or plumbing heard it good money these days, still if its 5 years just have to get on with it

Its a good thing that you are trying to get away from that lifestyle, however I would try to calm down a bit.
On another note, why did you make it known, in a military forum that you stabbed someone in the chest ... that just gives out, well, kinda the wrong impression.
If you had just said that you had a conviction for GBH, people would offer alot more advice.
Without bitting my head off, I just wanted to give you a bit of advice with future arrivals ... dont tell to many people that you stabbed a guy in the chest, it gives off the wrong vibes.

I would say that Sticky Blue as covered everything that you need to know. I have worked in a AFCO a couple of times during a recruitment blitz for my old Regiment. And I think it is 5 years. But this is'nt set in stone.
I was conficted for Afray and according to the ROOA I would of had to wait 3 years before joining the Army. I got in after 10 months. I was told 'that the Army is'nt looking for angles'
The Armed Forces as always had a large part of it from criminal backgrounds.
But what you did was alot more serious and you did go inside, I only got fined so considered less serious. The best thing to do is have ago and see what happens.
The trouble is that you want the Royal Marines who can aford to be more choosy than say Army Infantry. My mate was originally turned down for the Marines because of his lack of knowlage of Royal Marines history.

Also mate, I know I don't know you but so far you hav'nt took the stick you've recieved off other people too well. The stick you will get in training and at your unit will be alot worse and you need to be able to take it without lashing out. The most important thing you need in the Armed Forces is a sence of humour and to be able to laugh things off now and then.

Anyway, good luck we all deserve a second chance.

I wanted to get a realistic answer and just come out with it i find it works alot better long term i no it sound a bit harsh and i dont normally tell any1 ive even got a conviction. Just wanted to a realistic answer with all the details becauseit depends what you did you can get GBH for shooting someone in the leg aslong as you prove to them you wernt aiming to kill them. Or you get GBH for making someone a vegatable in a wheelchair?.

Lew, yeh i watched "britains hardest pubs" i thought that was a good example and i can relate to what the bloke says. I found the oldy pub in welsh full of 80 year old mad men a laugh especially when hez doing situps lol
