I don't think anyone on here begrudges answering someone's questions, but unfortunatly some of the questions asked begger belief, i.e. -

1. Who's the best Paras or Marines?
2. I want to join RM, what do I need to do?
etc, etc

That outlines the 2 types of question that causes most aggreviement, question 1 is just stupid. Question 2 is something that can be answered far better by the nearest AFCO.

If you check the 'Joining' sections you'll see that us moaning old gits do provide some valuable information, it's just that most of it gets ignored, the rest would be far better off getting in touch with their AFCO.

Don't forget, when we joined up we didn't have access to any internet forum boards, if we could manage it then I'm sure you lot can manage it too.

Mince, you point is taken but if you go to CTC you will be lower than whale s**t as a nod. Best to view the 'moaning old gits' as a very, very gentle introduction. I used to try to offer advice because I know what it's like to be a bit scared of the unknown and to try to prepare yourself for the hornet's nest. Now I hardly bother - even though I'm chuffed that young lads want to join the Corps - as is, I suspect every former Royal on here.

Good preparation is being respectful to someone trying to help (and respectful to everyone really - it's an approach all bootnecks have - the problem is that the benefit of the doubt disappears in an instant when it's clear someone's not going to help themselves as well, so it can appear that it's not there in the first place).

You certainly don't strike me as a nobber and sticking up for the generic 'knobber' on these forums shows you possess a certain amount of loyalty which will serve you well in your bootneck career. You're just a bit sensitive mate - like me
