suicide - bullying - army life.
I never saw any bullying while I was in the army, life was hard so was the training in those days, but then again they had to turn big kids into young men, who could expect to be action soon after they had finished there basic training. We had sergeant that had such a turn of phrase, he could turn the air blue and us into a fit of the giggles, which drove him mad as that was not the effect he was trying to get. I always found all the officers and NCO's okay, and we only had one who was a bit of a daft sod, and would charge any one with any thing, the only thing was he was not fussy or pick on any one in particular, he charge the lot. God rest ye Nobby.

Is it bullying or is it bullying being mistaken for beasting or charector building training.Young people of today are softer than twenty, thirty years ago.
The soldiers in the news were at a Logistics Barracks, does this mean the soldiers were a bit more sensitive(they wanted to drive trucks not get involved in hand to hand fighting) than say a Para's Depot.
I have never come in contact with a bullying situation.I have seen plenty of P take and beasting. If you havnt got a sense of humour,DON'T JOIN.
I do think the deaths of the soldiers were sus.Out of the four on the news,Three were shot in the head and one multiple gun shot wounds to body. One of the soldiers was shot twice in the head,Hardly suiside.
My definition of bullying is unreasonable force (physical or mental)repeatedly used on one person to make them do something.

I did my infantry course at catterick, where there have been more deaths than at deepcut. A lad named sharples killed himself while i was there. I didn't know him, but my mate did. I didn't see much bullying, neither did my mate, who was in his training platoon. But some people can't handle how the training staff treat them. They can get quite nasty. This is to root out the people who won't last. But after 3 months your discharge window is closed, and some people seem to see suicide as the only way out. Stupid, really. Once training's over, it does get easier.

Allan Sharples did not kill himself, which has now been proved.

It depends what your interpretation of bullying is and your interpretation of beasting is?
If having petrol poured over you and lit while you sleep would be classed as beasting, or if a television was droped on your head while you slept, would again be classed as beasting, or if you were forced to parade naked infront of your superiours and punched in the face if you tried to cover yourself, again you may class as beasting, then you are correct there is no Bullying in the Army, only beastings!
