1.5mile treadmill test
Yeah problem with that is my mates probably wouldn't stop when I passed out, not a bad idea though the closest I get to it at the moment is push rounds at the gym when one of the staff basically hammers you on the cardio stuff for an hour or so I've come pretty close to losing conciousness on those before and my bro has chucked up a couple of times (which I found quite funny I might add) but i still want to do more I was thinking the other day about a little bit of a money spinner for an ex-rm PT or something like that they could run PRMC preparation courses where you pay couple of hundred quid and basically they recreate as closely as possible (obviously they wouldn't have the assault course) to help you prepare because thats the one major thing i've picked on in this forum no matter what you do to prepare the PRMC is always a bit different to anything you do
If it aint hurtin it aint worth it
A mate of mine didn't even need a power cut he just over stepped on the runner and stood on the plastic and shot himself forward straight into the mirror in front, quite possibly the funniest thing I have ever seen, strangely enough he hasn't run on a machine since, don't know what that's all about

LolIts possible to fall off them (learned the hard way)
Me too.
The stop button didnt work, so while I thought the machine was stopping and I was slowing down, it wasnt and I went straight off the back at 16km/h lol. I caught the rubber belt in the face and shoulder though, that wasnt a bit funny, it hurt to wear a t-shirt for weeks and I still have the scar.
you gotta search within you, you gotta find that inner strength, and just pull that shit out of you, and get that motivation to not give up, and not be a quitter no matter how bad you wanna fall flat on your face
Read somint about this in the Navy News a little while ago, I've been thru officer selection once and i'm trin for the second time now but I havent been asked to do it?

i think doing the treadmill 1.5 miles in 10:45 for your PRMC lulls you into a false sense of security because 10:45 is peice of cake and we all know that the PRMC isnt easy, i think they should be after about 9:00mins for you to be even considered for the PRMC.
i dont know if ive got the right time for the 1.5 miler but i think its something like that.

A fit person could do 5 km in 20mins easily, which means that they could do 15km in an hour. If you set the treadmill at 15km/hr, would this be sufficient?
When you think, people can run marathons at 5minute miles for the entire 26miles. Therefore, running 1.5 miles in 10mins souldnt really be too hard if you are reasonably fit, knowing that you are only running for a short distance.

i think you will find there are two tests the one for Royal is 10min 45 and the one for Navy 12mins or sumfin silly. I remember this because it was in our local paper
I think the pjft is just there to weed out the no hopers at the start. As after all being a Royal Marine Commando isn't all fitness its whats upstairs that counts, and thats what they want to see on the PRMC a reasonably fit young man with good determination.

Don’t go down for your fitness test in the early stages of mild food poisoning. I've been in bed / on the toilet (both ends, if ya know what I mean) for 3 days and the fitness test is what pushed me other the edge.
When the gym instructor asks you "Before we start, do you feel alright?" answer honestly.
The 10:45 time limit of the pjft is only to weed out the unfit and save them money. And I think the number of people passing PRMC has gone up since the introduction.
To run 1.5 miles on a treadmill in under 9 mins you would have to find a treadmill that goes over 16kph which most don't.
Personally I think they should allow you to do it round a track as it gives you the freedom to run at your own pace.
On the track I can do a mile and a half in under 9 mins comfortably but I'd pushing myself to get under 9:30 on a treadmill.
PS when I did my fitness test I got 1400 meters into it in under half the time an I had to stop because I was about to be sick. It feels shit if you don't pass lads trust me, so honestly don't take it too lightly and eat something dodgy two nights before you go. And if you've never ran on a treadmill before get some practice in and don't look at your feet whilst you’re running. It makes you unbelievably dizzy.
anyway gonna go book another fitnesss test in a few days when I can be arsed getting out of bed. how long does it take before you get bed sores?[/quote]

stuck in a rut, unsure about the future, unsure about the military lifestyle, for a while anyway
