Villian, when I was serving the allocation of soldiers in the Driver trade was:

50% UK
45% Germany
5% Rest of the World

So a fair chance you could end up in Germany for your first tour.

With regard to accomodation I would say it is probably better than the UK (as with most things, transport, medical, education, cost of living etc. IMO).

Good luck with your plans, must be a big decision to join with a family in tow, hope it works out.

Aye Tony

Just wondering where in Germany would a rlc driver be based?
Also has anyone NOT completed the 1.5mile run in the alloted time. What is the run time for logistics driver's.So many questions and July 28th is quickly approaching.Currently running 10.21.Though hearing some do it in 8.00 is very worrying. Is selection all that tough or am i shitting myself for no real reason.God i hate running, that's why man invented the motor car so we would'nt have to leg it every-where.Well better get used to it.

The recruiting office should have advised you of the time required for which specific Corps/Inf you are joining. This is from memory so well worth double checking with AFCO:
Paras under 9:30
Inf under 11:30
RE under 13:00
Other areas under 14:30

So your target should be under 9:30 in my opinion, because who would want to finish behind a potential Para? :D

Villain if you follow this link http://www.army-rlc.co.uk/New%20Web%20D ... %20Map.htm it should give you all the answers you need.

You need to get your head around this Villain - you could be the best driver in the world friend, but, there is plenty of running to be done - even in the RLC. Some advice for when you have joined, get your running time down to under 10 minutes for a mile and half and maintain it. Will save you a lot of grief, extra PT sessions, beastings up hills and expletives from Tp Sgts and even uglier expletives from SSMs.

Once a soldier has learned how to drive all mobile unit's after phase 2 training.Do you get allocated one particular vehicle or do you swop and change every few week's.Just curious.

I only spent my first 3 years on the MT park at the wonderful 10 Regt RCT based in Bielefeld(I then became a Traffic Operator - ex RE trade which the RCT inherited), we were never given a specific vehicle, just allocated one from the park and off you went.
