One things for sure, no unit could do it's job without the help of all the others. Except the RMs, but that's because I'd like to be one
I thought this was an interesting update to this thread until I read the above.

Will one (or more) of you Booties please explain to the 'wannabees' how a RM Commando fulfills its role i.e with support from a variety of other Units. Thanks awfully.

OK Contractor, I knew you'd need help, ..................we all do!

Let's choose something recent..... Operation Telic.

In the early stages of preparation, 3 Commando Brigade took two additional elements under command; the USMC's 15 MEU and a Squadron of Light Tanks from the Queen's Dragoon Guards. Also included was 7 and 8 Batteries of 29 Commando Regiment Royal Artillery, and a Battery of AS90 Self Propelled Guns.

40 and 42 Commando were flown in by a mixture of USMC, Royal Navy, Royal Marines, and RAF helicopters. The Royal Marines helicopters are serviced and maintained by engineers from the REME.

BigFatCivvy may be confusing us with the USMC, who are self sufficient, the Royal Marines are not.

I hope this helps!

Hi guys, My comment was only meant as a small joke, but not to offend anybody. I know the RMs need support from all services. Hope I didn't annoy anybody.
Now then, then now, now then now, now then. Never poo poo a poo poo. Damned stout fellow.

Hey BFC, no worries friend.

I asked for the clarification, which was ably supplied by Rotary, to assist 'wannabe's' in understanding the role that RM fulfilled and how they fit into the 'big picture'.

I think I should have added an emote or two with my post as messages come across colder than intended. Good luck with your pursuit of becoming a Boot neck BFC.

:D :) :( :o :-? 8) :x :P

Sticky, I am nothing if not confused :D

Must not mention painters, the present Mrs Contractor of 23 years standing will have lots of wonderful ideas taken from 'Better Homes, 'Hot Property' or similar tiresome TV programmes that will keep me busy for months!
