Point taken Barry, but this is how it was told to us by our coach tour manager who travels on this route every two weeks, everyone entitled to their opinion aye

Problem is that France just look after its self, it does not care about her allies or friends or even other human beings. To the French they are the only nation living.

I find it a bit strange that the Iraqi's won't be able to chose their next government - and that under no circumstances will there be an Islamic state (remind anyone of our moustachioed friend?)

May, I worked (cross training) with 9 DIMA French para commando's and they absolutely stank....reeked (trying not to get drawn in to racial stereotypes  ). It's hard to make an assessment on what I saw but they seemed fit enough (although not on par with Royal) and were disciplined (again not on par with Royal). They were moved to our ship (Fearless) after there had been a couple of knife-fights between them and Legionaires on their own ship.

The Brit Legionaires I met (not 2 REP though - a cavalry unit) were generally a disaffected bunch and couldn't wait for the opportunity to desert. There's always a few ex-Legionaires in the Corps and I knew one well. His view on training was that bootneck training was physically harder but there was more violence used in the Legion.

There's been a bit of a discussion on the Legion before - have a search around and see if you can find Harry Hackedoffs visit to the Legion museum - worth a look
Thanks ill have a look

i got curious because i was chatting to an israeli guy who said he had worked with brit, irish and french forces and the french company mentioned where by far the best

So i was eager for more info
