Its all ok until you find a hairy AWO with a pace stick ready to beat seven shades of the smelly stuff out of you! If any one tried that in my stores they wouldn't know what hit them!

I never had much ruck with the quality of the uniform that was issued. A bit of maintance and it was as good as damit. And when I got a bit older and started work I managed to purchase a few bits and bobs. What p***ed me off was the stupid badges they made us wear. The cadet gliding wings looked like an open pair of womens legs. I lost count amount of times people asked me what the badge was for. And when they never asked it was because they assumed it was a cadet identifying badge with Air cadets written through the middle. And with the stupid D of E badge on the other shoulder I felt like a christmas tree. I refused to do my staff cadet exam. Who in the real RAF wears a lanyard anyway. Let alone a bright yellow one. It was all to emphise that we were cadets. While the officers liked prancing around in their proper uniforms. And most of them never wore their VRT badges either.

No VRT Badges !

Military offence that is. Yours could be the first VRT officer to do a spell in the military correction centre know as (dark rumble, deep voice effect on) Colchester !!!

I doubt it. The Corps might have changed now. But when I was a cadet there was some right plums amongst the adults. There was one who got up to Squadron Leader. We was on a camp and one of the regular officers pointed out that his top button on his tunic was not done up. He replied that it was a tradition to do that in bomber command. Turned out he was never even in bomber command. He did his two years national service in the stores or something similar. This bloke did do some good in other ways though. But some of the things they got up to would upset the regulars and give the Corps a bad name. And then accuse the cadets of doing just that.
