it may not be the military way or whatever, but if you're down because of the amount or lack of press-ups you can dojust tell yourself this,
at least your better than i am, i can only do 10 when pushed,

theres always some1 worse off than you.

i did 31 yesterday, today im aiming for 32 or more.

i do as many as i can, then about 20 seconds rest, then i do 15 more press ups, 20 seconds rest, 10-15 more press ups, 20 seconds rest then 10-15 more press ups, then i do wide press ups up and down very slowly. hope it helps because it is working for me :D

I just hope your all adopting the correct technique on your press ups!
The method you have to adopt in the Marines is different to what most people consider to be the norm! Ensure your performing them correctly as they are alot harder.

There are pictures on the PRMC training guide however you cant properly see the correct arm & hand positions.

Have the RM recently updated the technique on performing push-ups? The reason why is because I know someone who attended the PRMC in the late nighties and he said that your head position needs to be in its natural position, i.e. looking at the floor rather than looking forward as in the PRMC pics posted on this site. Also I have an old 90's RM Marines Commando Fitness Training book and the instructors are looking at the floor while performing a push-up. Can someone clear this up?

If your having trouble doing them the PRMC way, then try doing them normaly for a bit, like a 3 weeks or what ever and i think you'll find that you'll be able to progress faster with PRMC ones.

From what Ross has told me its

- Arms shoulder width apart
- Looking ahead at all times
- Your elbows are kept tucked in to your sides when going up and down.

Practice like that going down to the floor or a tennis ball etc and you'll be doing it as you will on the gym test.

Basically its harder than the basic press up position and a permanent pain in the ass.
