As far as I know, the SBS do all the proper amphibious operations (canoe raiding, sinking boats etc) while the SAS boat troop simply use maritime skills as an insertion method. So they can dive and use boats, but only only to get to a job inland. I may of course be wrong though :).

Hawkeye

Interesting to note you have never given a direct response to any of my post!

That is apart from the first one, when according to you 'I had lost it'.

You have put yourself forward as a former member of the SBS yet why do I get the feeling that this may not be so ?

You little prick, how the hell can you be as much of a w*nker as to have a go at the SAS  . McNab may have been captured and others may have f***** up also, but they were out there putting their asses on the line to protect ordinary people like you and me. The SAS have and will always have more balls than u will ever have. :fist: :fist: :fist:

G'day Bruce,

I think I can speak for the majority on this forum and say we agree that Hawkeye is as you described. If you have a look around you'll find he has been pulled apart in many threads, hopefully to the point where he will not return.

As to him not having the balls, he probably has them, but they have not descended yet.

Both McNab and Ryan are respected SAS veterans, and should be respected for what they've done.
There isn't a soul up here who knows what they've done to make us fel safer up here.
Unfortunatly, some peope think they could have done it better themselves, like not being captured and all that. Perhaps the biggest mistake one can make, is by saying they're better than one onther.
That is plain pathetic.

I think you may find that things are not quite so respectful at Hereford these days towards the pair of them. 8)

Why not? Are they not a team, i mean, like the marines, The regiment is a very close team, so why would they not be so much respected these days anymore? :-?

Because they broke the cardinal rule of not talking/writing about what they had done. There is an ethos in SF that says what happens on an OP stays on an OP.

I think you'll find that line of thought in all SF units. Alls it does it attract unwanted publicity, walter mitteys and wannabees.

Michael Asher was not in 21sas he was in 'B' squadron 23sas(v) I served with him. H e was in Leeds doing a degree course at the university, his big fear was that the radical left would find out he had been a regular para and served in ireland before joining the sas . He really wanted to be be a teacher and if you read his atobiography, you will find out he went to the police in northern ireland, before discovering the purity of the desert, learning tospeakarabic fluently and marrying another 'desertist' though far better looking than him.
Mick is a very straighforward guy and his account of bravo two zero clarifies a lot of questions that have been murmuring in the background
