if your heart was with the marines you wouldnt have filled out the para application form, and also you wouldnt be bothered by how long the application process is. but whatever choose good luck....you need to have full comitment and drive for one otherwise you wont succeed. and you dont really seem to have that for either.

Well that's a far cry from your earlier post as you simply said he served on a Submarine.

So you've settled on going for the Royal Marines then.hannibal143 wrote:For ''Dizzy'' ONLY:

What did the Para's at Depot or your AFCO sponsor have to say, have you told them yet?
Good luck anyway.

Just a friendly word hannabal143, but try not to post in a different language; it's an English language forum contributed by English speaking people.
The Private Messaging function is there if you want to speak to only one person. I know you mean well but it just makes it harder for the other members to figure out what you're talking about.
Have you thought about what you're going to say to your AFCO with changing your mind so close to Basic Training?
What was it that turned you off the Royal Marines anyway, you never said?
Good luck with your tests' and medical checks. All the best.

Hey Patrick,
Sorry about that,i thought you spoke German as ''Dizzy'' whom I met when I was doing my year abroad in Dresden (we went to same German language classes being Brits who spoke not much of Deutsch).
Anyway,[1]with AFCO I guess I am leaving that to the CPO (now I am handled by WO2 of RM) who interviewed me yesterday to deal with them and seek the transfer of other papers in possession of the army,if still!!(The story in the news of lost disc with about 1.5million details of present and potential recruits). They of course might call me to confirm, esp., my sponsor sergeant (who knew that I had before applied with the marines),I will then have to confirm it; contract does not forbid me to do so.
[2]why marines and not paras?I want to be the best of all worlds (not just the best of the army, but of our entire armed forces, excl.,the ''specials''). what makes the paras apparent ''elites'',as in their own words ''the stringent selection/training'',that a week (because is from weds of one week to tues of next) of P-COY.What makes RM elites, just read the name (COMMANDOS) and observe their training regime (a 32wk detailed outline, covering much in length and depth).

I was refering in the context of the AFCO putting you forward for the Royal Marines, then changing to follow the Para's to Basic Training, now romancing your original passion for the Royal Marines? What advice did the Warrant Officer give about the indecisiveness?
The training only lasts so long, after that you're doing the job for real; what aspect of it does it for you?

RM application was done at my home town, way before I moved to south as a trainee teacher (in sixth college, and pt adult tutor).I actually let it slip off my mind cause I was in a sense forcing myself to fit into civilian life and jobs(excitement of new jobs). After a year, being an adventure enthusiast and from a mil background, I guess I missed mil lifestyle,so I started a new application in the south with paras.
why not call back and continue with marines?simply, because,I wanted not a career(RM is a career path for me;paras/army is a ''tour-kind'' path, just do my minimum and get out;in a sense, shrug off the civilian boredom and repetitions).Hence,I sought an army job,but having put myself into a regime of discplinced training and healthy eating/alcohol avoidance etc.,I now believe I am ready to dedicate fully to a career in the military with the RM,and this is what I told the WO2 yesterday. He appreciated and started the ball rolling again and faster he promised,he saw my dedication, fitness level and logic of my reasoning.
what aspect of training?here I dont get what you really are trying to askme, but I might say,RM is much wider in opportunities available not constricted (after all,it is a corp.).And the chances for promotion are very much 3:1,in a sense (Higher). And specialisations are not ''allocated'' but open-to-all to TRY-OUT for.I hope I have answered you enquiries.

Have you ever thought of using the space bar and typing in proper English?hannibal143 wrote:[2]why marines and not paras?I want to be the best of all worlds (not just the best of the army, but of our entire armed forces, excl.,the ''specials''). what makes the paras apparent ''elites'',as in their own words ''the stringent selection/training'',that a week (because is from weds of one week to tues of next) of P-COY.What makes RM elites, just read the name (COMMANDOS) and observe their training regime (a 32wk detailed outline, covering much in length and depth).
Ref my bold: I assume that's suppose to mean something along the lines of "P Company is only a week long and so in your opinion doesn't mean they're elite" (it's hard to make out since your English is so poor). So if that's what you think then it surely begs the question; how long exactly do you think the Commando tests last?

You so full of crap it's just pouring out your mouth, if you want to apply for the Marines then crack on it's your decision. But don't go bad mouthing and insulting the Paras to try and justify your decision, especially since no one on here actually cares what Regiment you join.
As ole Harry would say.........YAWN is that the time already???

Easy Alfa,I am [1] not insulting or belittling paras or any other regiment. If you observe closely on my threads I emphasis the PERSONAL VIEW and preferences.[2]Are we in grammar school in this forum or what, since every single person seemingly unable to properly debate something comes out with the ''golden card'' of spelling and grammatical errors. And if you get this from assumption I am German, you are wrong, because I speak 2 more European languages.
Vous êtes si plein de foutaise il verse juste votre bouche, monsieur.
Lei è così pieno di fesserie esso giusto versa la sua bocca, il suo signore.

Hannibal, none of us speak perfect English, the problem a lot of us have is that you and others don't seem to be able to transmit in short accurate bursts. To that end a lot of posts end up being one long sentence that is difficult to understand, throw in txt speak and we're all F****d.
Go RM or Para but just be carefull how you say things, I'm an ex Bootie but spent a long time working with guys from Para Reg and it would be a huge diservice to them to run them down in any way.
As for foreign languages, great but we speak English here. Hope you can speak Farsi...

It's been obvious ever since his first post that English wasn't his native language Alfa.
Hannibal, the reason I place an emphasis on correct spelling and grammar (and I believe Wholley will agree with me here) is that it demonstrates respect, both for yourself and other forum members, and shows that you think what you have to say is worth taking the time to say properly.
If you can't be bothered to type your post properly, why should anyone else bother to read it?
Any branch of the military would expect you to think about attention to detail, doing everything to the best of your ability, and not taking shortcuts. So this isn't the military, but a lot of us are serving members, and we all apply the same standards throughout every area of our lives.
Enough of the showing off with the french and italian, noone's impressed.
Several of us could do the same thing, but we're not that pretentious.

You can have peace.
Or you can have freedom.
Don't ever count on having both at once.
