I at one time despised the fact that I would have to kill a woman. After an incedent in Kuwait City that has left me with a .22 caliber projectile in my left hip my whole opinion has changed about the aspects of "mowing down" women. If they are carrying a weapon, or acting in any way conspicuous do not turn your back on them, or you will pay the concequences.
better to burn out, than fade away

Now the supply line is the front line,
I wonder how the politically correct,
feel about women at war in the 21st century,
buisness as usual, fog of war perhaps.
Women are suited better to certain things,
than men, admin and nursing being just a
few, I dont mean to be sexist, but at some
point all this politics and EU rules need to go
out of the window, especially when is comes too war.

Iposted elsewhere, about the 507th maint coy being ambushed. Besides the frightened girl shown on Iraqi tv, there are two other females listed as MIA after this incident. That`s the reality.

Exactly! Ive been griping about this nonsense all along. What really pisses me off is the draft issue. Men here still have to register for the draft but women dont. If things heat up in the middle east and North Korea decides to push the envelope, this country may have to reinstate the draft. Will they draft women? No! If some beaurocrat came to get my gf or sis to march off to war he would never leave my house alive. So it stands to reason that females just dont belong in the service. They wanna be cops? Fine. Politicians? Fine. But leave the soldiering to men. Did you see that girl that had been taken prisoner? Does anyone in their right mind think that little teenie-bopper had any business on a battlefield? As most of you have noticed I have a fondness for including lists in my posts. Here is my top ten on why I dont like girls in green.
1. RAPE!
2. A good percentage of them enlist, go through training and then get knocked up, completely wasting the tax dollars that were invested in their development, and continuing to draw a salary off of the goverment. Its madness.
3. Distraction. Men are likely to fight over, gawk at and generally pay too much attention to G.I. Janes. This becomes intenisfied with prolonged deployments.
4. Case after case occurs where some other wise good military men find themselves being discharged or worse because of an incident with some carpet muncher. The Air Force is currently involved in a big scandal regarding the rape of several cadets on a military campus. If these men are guilty of it they deserve what they get, but its just one more thing to worry about in our neo-PC western societies.
5. Lack of physical ability. Like it or not, women on average cannot hump 100 lbs of gear day in and day out. God diddnt build them for battle.
6. Facilities. They need their own latrines and barraks. In a war time encampment this is a great waste of resources and space. And in active patrolling, I dont want to be responsible for launching a rescue mission for girls who wander off for privacy when they need to squat.
7. Morale. When a female soldier is captured it hits morale alot harder than a regular POW case. See rule 1 for details.
8. Animosity. Your average gung ho soldier just doesnt want to take orders from some princess who is enjoying the benefits of affirmative action. I dont know how it is in England but in the U.S. officer candidates get points added to their exams for being a minority or a female. And when this doesnt work, which it usually doesnt. They just bump better and more qualified men so that they can portray diversity. A black female gets a 27 out of 110 points head start over a white male. Does this seem odd to anyone? Do you want some quota deciding the fate of you and your buddies?
9. The break down of traditions. Year after year the requirements for service become more and more "fair". You know what this is really good for? Its good for taking a man who would make a great soldier, and just turning him off to the whole idea of getting involved. This doesnt just pertain to women. How efficient can it be to have some blatantly gay flamer getting emotional every time his drill sergeant yells at him. What draws good soldiers to service is honor and duty, God and country. These things become less of a reality when polluted with ridiculous recruits.
10. Preferrentialality. Innevitably officers and commanders will spare female soldiers from doing things that the men must do. This seems logical but in reality it creates an air of artificiality. At the end of a tour she returns to the same "heroes welcome" as all the people who had it alot worse. So either they are put on the front lines with the rest of the grunts or they stay in the rear with the gear. Either way it is a logsitical complication and a detriment to efficiency.
Sorry for the long post boys. Im growing fond of this site.

Home on the range.
Ranger,
In contradiction to my post on one of the other threads - I am not too much of a lady to utter the good old Scots vanacular - Pish!!!!!
This is the 21st century not the 19th and whilst I would concur with some of your points it does read very much as if your main concern is attributing blame to the women for unacceptable and in some cases illegal male behaviour.
I am ex military and I would strongly defend any womans right to join the armed forces. Men do not have the monopoly on protecting our countries. I am most definitely not a princess nor do I believe I was ever considered one by the men I worked with. I was extremely fortunate to work with first class professionals whether they were male or female.

Your list mate,
1 - Rape
How the flying monkeys (I'm aware of families on the site) can you suggest such a hideous crime as a reason not to allow females to join our armed forces?
2- doesn't happy very often here, perhaps you lot just aren't recruiting the right type of female.
3- arse. Professionals concentrate under any circumstances. You could be at a bunny of the year award and if there was a chance you'd get slotted you wouldn't even notice them.
4- get a grip, again accusations of crime would be just as common in modern single sex force. If they are innocent they'll be found innocent, trust in justice. If you can't then its the discipline and policing you need to correct.
5- Neither could half of the male members of tank regiments, logistics, aircrew etc.
6- In the field I'm sure a lady will manage to survive. There has to be a set amount of toilets etc anyway, if a proportion are female only then it won't really matter. Over here we don't have the zero privacy heads.
7- Professionals can deal with it.
8-Over here we don't have that system, if you do then its a disgrace. Not a case for no females in the forces, jsut a case for better recruitment. Best females and males only please.
9-If you followed that we'd still have 90% of officers from middle class private schools. As a result the forces would be very poor. (not swore once yet!)
10- Is that even a word, again thats nothing to do with the females, merely problems futher up. Some people are preferred over others anyway.
You talk mince mate, all women are snakes with tits ( Loz, that's going to be my new motto!)

As for the draft, no-one should be drafted. Not matter what the circumstance I wouldn't want half hearted Oppo's.
Also, the little "teeny bopper" fought to the last round. I know they might be talking her up a little to serve as role model but she signed up and did her duty.
She's the same age as me, same as some of the UK and US lads who have been sadly lost and the same age as the average american casualty in Vietnam. Shove your teeny bopper. The fact I am going to outlive them is incredibly significant to me, I know how hard it must have been for them to leave home to fight and I can't even comprehend how difficult it must be for the families. Such a sacrifice is not taken lightly.

I was reffering to soldiers forced to fight in the Vietnam conflict who had little or no enthusiasm for the war, Iraqi conscripts who are currently fighting with no real wish, the same in parts of Africa, Russian conscripts in Afghanistan (is that correct?), the list goes on.
I was not doubting anyone's courage, merely stating I would prefer to serve with people who truly believed in what they were doing.
I apologise if anyone took as a slur upon national service, but having people who do believe in what they are doing and do not wish to do so is (In my opinion) not a good basis for the forces. The reason we have selection is to make sure we get the best and remove those who are unsuitable, a draft means everyone has to serve.
