Yep most lads had Lifa tops. The fleece is a kind of bobbly pile material - sorry I can't help much but most bootnecks late 80's early 90's had them -not even sure if they're still available - great bit of kit in the cold because they kept you wrists warm. Meraklon is a very thin stretchy material - very warm - top piece of kit. This is the stuff:

http://www.bizbrowsers.com/warmerfeet/listings/26.html

Sorry to differ but I don't think Ortleib bags are much kop (I had one) they're not quite bergan size (and don't stretch) and waste a lot of space (I could never quite fit my full tray of eggs in one) - I hardly used mine. Ok for canoeing. Savagely expensive as well - the 'VM' type bags were far better (gold dust in fact) if you could find something similar and made them available you would be a folk hero. An alternative was always waterproof bergan covers which did the trick if they fit but no good for river crossings.

Probably best if someone serving chips in (I remember a lingering problem with non-issue kit - sometimes you could wear it sometimes not)but I'll expect they're a bit tied up at the mo. Companies like Taunton Leisure used to knock VAT off of anything sent BFPO. Good luck with the degree and green lid.

Think the dry bags we get now are different to older offerings. I've got a 109 litre Ortlieb bag which cost about 20quid. Is that likely to be the one you didnt like?

Was that link to the manufacturers site? good cheap kit by the looks of it. except maybe the gardening clogs not 100% reliable in the field! Glove seem useful though.

Could be mate - still think its steep and a bit over the top for bergan lining unless you're doing splashes but SB get issued with that sort of gear - each to their own - I remember the average Royal spending no more than was absolutely necessary to get the job done - saving the coin for important things like runs ashore. It's one reason I think your venture is a great idea.

No idea - just searched Meraklon on Google and came up with that. Great stuff though - but tends to melt/disappear if too close to a peak.

doub that we will be stocking camelbaks - crap attitude to small business apparently. I am looking at huge amount of web-site at the mo though so If I bump into them I'll send you the link.

How much were the Altbergs? never heard of them before but I'll have a look.

The site only has surplus kit on it at the mo so really not much to see! It will improve soon though. Especially as Colin is doing a design for a new one - his creative skills are far greater than mine!

Cheers for the help folks!

They've always been pretty expensive, but I don't think 20 notes is too bad...I paid a hell of a lot more for mine quite a few years back now.
Can you get hold of spares etc for camelbaks??
I've got to confess to not having had a proper look at your site yet...I promise I will get round to it.
As for Pro-boots and Matterhorns, heard varying reports on them...some like them ,some don't. My bloke wears Altbergs.

Kev,

I see what you mean about the PVC gardening clogs - put me down for a half dozen if you start stocking them - red please :o

Again, all the best with it - it would be great to have a one-stop shop for bootneck favourites - don't forget to look into the tupperware though  As for my current trade - if you start selling trousers with a reinforced arse guaranteed not to shine then I'm in the market.

Good luck mucker

LOL. I need to be ultra-cheap as I'll be supplying a fair few scots regiments as well as RM.

Buffalo don't want to play ball as I don't have a physical store - I told them they were selling the lads short by making them pay over the odds.

It was a short conversation as I'm sure you can imagine. :D

Sod em, I'm cheaper going through another store than I am wholesale! Dealing with a place that provides similar service to Army bods, they sell bout 20% less and reckon I'll be able to do the same while still having enough profit.

Sadly Altbergs only sell direct, they said they only make 150 pairs. :-? spread over 12 ranges I doubt thats an accurate figure! Excellent boots by the look of it. They are sending me a catalogue for some reason, sure if I write back stating who we are and what we are about and enclose a nice fat order they'll think again!

29 Commando have a great shop that obviously would suit bootnecks perfectly. Only problem is its dear! we plan on being 20% less! Including Clogs!

Cheers,

Kevin

Surplus kit arrived today

:o :o :o

Mod Police jackets are in 2 styles, one of which is almost a dress and I've got 3 of them in pretty big sizes, Ill be struggling to sell them!

Got 3 pair of Pro-Boots and only one pair of Matterhorns.

Pro-Boots are amazing, I'm keeping 1 lot of the size 10's for me. I admit i've not done a speedmarch etc in them yet but they seem fantastic.

Matterhorns a bit more solidly built. Slightly heavier.

I'll give the pro-boots a proper test next week and also see what the lads at RMR think. ( Don't worry, I won't be selling the pair we use! Might use them as a trial pair though.)

If we all agree they are the bee's knees and also that they are not standard issue (99% sure, far too good!) then I'll go get a stock of them.

Unless someone tells me otherwise! Surely they'll deal with me even though I don't have a feckin shop?!? If not my other supplier has a new brand I've never hear dof, apparently approved by 22, CTCRM and some army bods I'd never heard of. Guy is an ex-para but knows his stuff and is in the business for same reasons as me.

Peds,

sent you an email mate stating prices etc as the business has moved on a bit. I know the idea of buying pre-packed sizes is a pain but I chopped down price to compensate.

Great Site, K24.

I'll spread the word around at Sandhurst when I get there in May. No doubt we'll be after some comfy boots.

Redesigned but sadly still got the limited amount of stock at the moment, got the suppliers but a severe lackage of le cash to go with it.

Comments please on the site design. Not comments on the immense pictures of me on it.

Not been on this site for a good while! Had a few visitors from it in last few days and thought I'd see what was going on.

Remember the 1st birthday rather than the 2nd!

Quite a few probs with site - Ratso, I sohuld have listened mate!

Biz is not too bad mate, taking while to get the name out there but sold load of kit for lads going over to NI. Arktis vests were extremely popular, just folk after best kit really.

Got rid of the Surplus stuff, Didn't rate that much of it, lot of it is excellent for normal use, but not up to really punishing use when it matters.

Shifting all the Pro-Boot classics soon as well, bringing in Meindl, possibly Magnum Elite but I'm not sure of them.

Cash would be nice mate, but I'm still skint student and still waiting on RMR settling bloody Physio bill, been waiting for about 4 weeks on a Doc's appointment at Faslane and can't get Mil physio till then and won't get more civvy stuff paid, catch 22 really.

Regards to all- email is on the site if anyone fancies a chat about the old days of the board!

Hello Kev. I like you site, the layout is the best because i hate the ones where the links are everywhere! All the links down the left side is great. Have you thought of making a link banner? Some sites exchnage banners and put them on each others sites, it could be worth a try.

Anyway i was just wondering If you have any of the 35 Litre Karrimor Sabre Patrol packs in DPM about?

Oh and do you do student discount for us NUS card holders
