It wasn't too bad. Basically running around in a circle going from sprints to light jogs and then sprints again. Speed going up and down all the time whilst punching out to the sides then infront of you and things like that. I think maybe he carried it on too long as most of the lads were completely nackered after it. We were all having a joke about how hard it was. It's nothing too hard though.

Overall the weekend was really good. Aslong as you give 100% in everything you do then the staff will be happy because that's all they're looking for really. You're expected to work hard but it's worth it because it's a good weekend and you get to meet alot of good lads.
Yeah, was there any lads on the insite who could'nt run the 1.5 in 9.18 and if so did they pass?

Cheers Tom
There were some lads who didn't even finish the 1.5 mile. never mind in 9:18.

At the end of the course they either give you a green, amber or red letting you know how ready you are to go for selection. I think aslong as you finish in under 9:30 you'll be fine.

Jesus, if you are thinking of joining Para Reg and you can't run a mile and a half with out stopping, you need to seriously think about resigning yourself to a life of stacking shelves at Tescos! :o

And there is no way on God's Earth that you could do it in less than 9.18 if you had stopped!

On my course back in the good old days there were only about 4 of us who did it faster than that mate, the rest were slower.

As ur man says they're looking for attitude, so if you ran it in 9 minutes but looked fresh you'd be worse off than someone who did it in 11 but was hanging out. That weekend is all about the attitude, although if you have the fitness as well that would help.

Cheers

Cheers for the morale boost... :o

Wasn't suggesting I did and never have, was just a few years ago and thought that would be an entertaining way to phrase it. I guess not... I'll just stick to my trainasium jokes then :D

You remember what I told you was the Quickest way to get a Green Lid don`t you?

That`s right mate, join the Iranian Navy 8)

Every one a winner, I`ve heard`em all and I just turn me skin thickness up

Knew an old plumber from Liverpool called Bill Johnston. (His son had a plumbing company in Widnes called Raymar)
He was with Frost at the end. Those lads earned their dosh and no messbins
Here`s to`em :drinking:

Fair one mate, every one of 'em a hero. Was at the Para Reg Rememberence Service the other week with an ex Pathfinder who marked the DZs at Arnhem, amongst other things, what a bloke. Shame there's not many of them left.

Mate I`ve said elsewhere about those lads in wartime Paras or Royal and Army Commando Units being a very special breed. They`d step forward and volunteer to a man for any gig they were asked to, without a second`s hesitation.
Take the St Nazaire gig for instance, "Right lads, here`s the sketch. We will be attacking one of the most heavilly defended port installations in the Atlantic Wall. Jerry knows we`re coming and has spent two years getting his shit in a sock and he has some very heavy artillery waiting for us. We`ll come under fire as soon as we pop over the horizon and the fire will intensify all the way in. We are going to crash a destroyer into the dry-dock gates and blow them up. Any survivors who make it ashore will be on their own and it`s every man for himself after that. Any questions? No. Good"
Same at Dieppe and Bruneval and scores of other places. Job to be done, let`s get on with it, that was the attitude.

Here`s to them :drinking:
