I love how depot beats into you that you are the greatest thing since sliced bread and everyone else is w@*k! :P

P.S. Screw the nut on here with the "H" word....people dont like it

Keep the goals in the back of your mind; 6 week point, get your beret, exercises ticked off, week 12 APWT/Leave, adventure training, P-Company, Live firing, Final Ex.....then Pass Out.

Dont be influenced by weak people who want to leave. Keep strong and focused mate. And above all, AVOID INJURY!!!! 8)

I don`t mind the word "Hat" actually.
It`s the p-word that causes more offence :P

The word 'HAT' is not supposed to be offensive, its just a word Para Reg use to describe the other inferior regiments in the British Army.

Its things like 'if you cant hack it, be a Green Jacket' that are supposed to be offensive.

"The Para beret is not a hat...its a machine. Why? Because when all the other 'HATS' jack...the Maroon Machine keeps going.

I'd agree with that Joes shouldnt be here gobbing off about hats, what if he dont pass he might become a "hat" himself.

consider the nut screwed.

anyway week six pass off the square yesterday thurs 8th and f@#k i was nervous but no need to worry all the heel slamming over the last few weeks paid off and a few wrong answers from the "not so bright " ppl and we were off to slam our maroon backed machines on our head which ipersonally think is wrong and we should even get to look at our berets till we at least fininsh the normal infantry part of the course which is 12 weeks i think correct me if im wrong but seeing as though its there it'd be rude not to put it on and walk around with our heads a touch higher than when we had the god forsaken c@#t caps on but sayin that there not too bad for quickly wipeing youre boots with the inside of it.my problems with my shis are all but gone now just a twinge every now and then .I go back on sunday and then straight out on exercise monday morning for two or three nights i cant remember.did the steeple chase for the first time the other day well actually we did it twice one after the othe the first go was following the pt instructor round to get the know the course and the second time was our personal best effort untimed but i came 10th out of 60 so thats not to bad i think to say that i missed 3 or 4 runs and two tabs because of shins .swallowed a bit of the stagnent water out of one of the obstacles had stomach cramps and the shits for the rest of the day which wasnt good seeing as though we had pass off the square parade practise with the csm and platoon seargent so i had a few sloppy skid marks in me strides when i got back to the block but hey no pain no gain hey .DAOR date came up the other day and i think we've got 7 leaving because they cant hack getting up at 5:30 every morning. Bit of advise learn youre reg history off by heart and u'll save youre self alot of time and effort and might even be able to get to bed early a few nights if you dont need to learn as much .But all in all good enjoyable hard work is the name of the game keep youre head down dont spout off at the staff and work hard in everything you do no matter how little (cleaning the corridor)or large(cleaning youre rifle) and the first six weeks will fly by as they have done for me it doesnt feel like two minutes ago since i started this post and thats good to say that you are up from 5:30 till 11 -12-1 oclock at night .anywayz got to go get all my stuff for this exersise .

steve

p.s. if anyone wants the reg history stuff i have that they gave me to revise give me a shout and i'll see if i can get to the naffi one night and get it written up for you. ciao

hi again everyone and once again im f@#k loving it here managed to come 6th on the second attempt at the steeple chase which i was quite proud of seeing as though i had a chest infection and my lungs were in f@#k shit state. home for the weekend this weekend and then battle prep on monday and out for tac ex one which is a three day'er i think .think we do section battle drills ect plus weve got the lmg's with us as we did our weapons handling test on them the other day so that should be fun luggin that bastard about but we've still to be told who out of or sections is going to be the lucky one so might be able to get away with that one .did a 7 mile TAB the other day in the nice new weather we ahve and the seargent major decided to roll along with us aswell as the 2ic and our pt instructor dicided to up the pace a little bit and f@#k it was hard work but like ive said before if you actually turn it around and start thinking of it as something enjoyable its over alot sooner than you think and you fell like you've really acheived something when its finished we had 35 pounds plus water on top of that plus weapon which gave me one hell of a blister on me hand but hey no pain no gain. there are still people dropping out every now and again .i think the week after next we have our apwt so we'll see how many people get back squadded because of that because some of the "not so bright people" took like three or even four goes at the weapons handling test for the lmg but the staff are really good at trying thier best to get people like that through so maybe everyone in tamera platoon will get through even if it is by the skin on thier teeth.anywayz ciao for now and i'll post agian in a couple of weeks when i come home for my weeks leave.

ciao

Ah ha they'll be in for a shock when they get to Arnhem Platoon, they won't know what's hit them :o

Good to hear everything is going well for you mate and you're avoiding injuries, but more improtantly that you're enjoying it. You seem to have the kind of outlook on training that's going to get you through.

Keep the updates coming, they're making me even more depressed but what can I say, I'm a bit of a sadist

sky ninja steve wrote:think we do section battle drills ect plus weve got the lmg's with us as we did our weapons handling test on them the other day so that should be fun luggin that bastard about but we've still to be told who out of or sections is going to be the lucky one so might be able to get away with that one
Why dont you want to carry the LMG? You get to be responsible for 70% of your sections firepower. It will look very good on your depot report that you were chosen as a gunner in depot, especially when it comes to live firing.

And its not that heavy is it, really. I cant believe they have sacked teaching the GPMG in depot. Now thats a bit more of an effort when you are doing section attacks etc. Especially if your section commander doesnt decide to deploy a fire base and you end up sprinting about as much as every other joe who only has their IW. You might be licked after that

Keep trucking on mate. As said above, sounds like your enjoying yourself.
