Good luck mate. Hope that it all goes well for you. I will be having my final interview at the end of March with 16th May as my provisional date so I will soon be in the same position as you.

Why would they want to shave your head? even in the Army when i joined up they discouraged the crows getting skinheads?...........i thought the RAF was the gentlemans force :D :D

They do a number two with the clippers. I don't think that they shave it all off.

Have you ever seen that scene in Police Academy when those 2 blokes push in the cue at the Academies Barbers and ask for all there hair to be shaved off, thinking thats what was required. Then when they finished the next bloke just as a trim

Well I thought it was funny

Thanks everyone!

My hairs gay when i have it shaved so i can see them just shaving it and then leaving it a right mess! lol.

Only 4 more days now! Getting a little nervous and seriously starting to think about how hard this is going to be... I hope i am up to this! Im confident and enthuthiastic but i just hope i can physically do it.

I have a pretty unique second name, "Heyhoe" so no doubt there will be some jokes about that. But after 19 years of it you get used to it ;) but yeah, you will recognise my name if you hear it :)

Well, that was that!!

Glad to be out but i had a great time. Who was the fireman? There was a few on my flt (6 flt/ Winning flt :P) ERm,

Kench, Consterdine, Parry, Roughton (best recruit, legend) O'Brian and i cant think of any others. I know there was one called Doyle from that other flt, 5 flt i think.... .

Guys for the first two weeks its a bit, basically, shit. After that it gets interesting and you have some right laughs. I know i did. Thouroughly enjoyed it! lets do it again!

Tips:
Dont take them stupid trouser bungi things.
Take plenty of coat hangers.
Decent polishing brush,
A polishing cloth.
An ironing board that wont collapse if a "little pressure" is applied.
Dust you god dam bedspace!
Including your bed.
Dont try and hide anything.
If you have to make a stack of box folded clothes, make sure everything is ironed. Even if it looks amazing folded. they WILL check it. (day 51) lol i failed.
Keep your civvy bag clean and tidy!!!!! a guy got re flighted for having rubbish in it.
MAke sure you read the brief each morning and make sure you have everything required.
Take plenty of sealable plastic bags for GDT.
Change your bloody duds on GDT!
Make sure your rifle parts are spotless.
remember "BLOT BANG RUB" dont just fanny around with the DKP1 pad.
Give 100% effort all of the time. Thats all they ask.

A few things that are sort of Halton language.

"Get a grip"
"start sparking"
"switch it on"
"STAND STILL"
"Mong"
"Your in the Royal Air Force now"
"you better start asking yourself a few questions!"
"Get in f*****g step!"
"move the rifle around the head, not the head around the rifle"
"eyes front"

Ah good times. lol. Good luck people!
