I see your point but I think you might have misunderstood mine, I'm not suggetsting a recruit says he got experience in combat or civil service qualifications. Aspirations are fine but when you join the Corps, all those aspirations will hopefully, be entwined in the training, that will make you a Royal Marine.
Don't get to carried away by the rhetoric.
I did 23 years with the Finest Corps in the world. But even I would say that, that phrase is propaganda.
We might believe that it is true - but there are a few other Regiments that might think the same thing!! (Paras spring to mind!)
At the end of the day - once you join the Royal Marines - you join a family.
You live together, you fight together and if you have noticed anything from these threads on Mil. Forums or Onceamarine, the camaraderie lives forever and in a much stronger vein than in any other unit within the British Forces.

the main reason i want to join is because i want to fight for my country and then i have the ambitous side of things marines have good promotion prospects form what i understand ill be in a good position to join SBS, very verstiale force offering loads of carere choices plus navy will pay for further education also the royal marines are the best of the best and to b

If you're on about bursaries etc. they don't give out that many, I've got quite good grades but have been told its still a long shot to get FE funding, started first year college without any. Got to aim for officer and pass POC and AIB and then maybe will get funding, but places are very limited. Or so I've been told...DANTAE wrote:navy will pay for further education
