Talk to Owdun mate. Not about Snooker, ffs
Our country and it`s heritage, history and traditions is being systematically taken apart. One hundred years ago they were proud to be British. They won`t be in another hundred years. British is now a dirty word, British now means rascist.
Except it isn`t dirty and it isn`t racist. Britain is my homeland. It`s where I grew up.

there is a poem goes along the lines of... there will always be an england and that england shall be free if england means as much to you as england means to me. I thnk it just makes a mockery of everything. I was not around in the era's harry is talking about but in the 17 years i have been alive i have seen a noticeable difference i remember gollywog and suchlike and being british is something i am proud of and it pisses me off to see our heritage torn apart in such a demeaning manner.

I complained to the council here because they had put coloured lights up in December wth no mention of Xmas on them, and no fairy on the tree.
Maybe all the fairies were working on the council.
ps Don't like xmas, but it ours.

There is no more left-wing authority in this country than Manchester. I have had the privilege of teaching in mutli-ethnic, multi-cultural schools for 22 years and I can assure you that there is no 'editing' of nursery rhymes or hawking one religion / culture in favour of another.

This sort of unsubstantiated shite makes me spit!!

Jayne.
I was born and have lived in Manchester /Greater Manchester all my life, one of my best mates is black and he would never take any offence to hearing "Baa Baa black sheep"

If anything trying to do this sort of think makes tension instead of getting rid of it, but i havent experienced any round here.

I remember sliding the Gollywog tokens out that were tucked inside the back label of the Robertson's Jam jars. I collected enough to get the Gollywog badge, a Gollywock clicker thingy, and a knitted Gollywog (which, as I recall, promptly got a hair cut from me as soon as I received it - Berkshire was a dreadlock-free zone at the time!).

Eeee, happy days! When no one worried about the colour of yer garbage (uh, rubbish) bags, a black look was just that and nothing else, the loony left hadn't even been heard of, and Red Ken was still playng with himself behind the bike shed.

I have to agree with Harry.
I don`t want to live in a multi-cultural Britain.
I don`t.
I want to live in a Britain which is primarily British, where immigrants recognise that fact and adapt the way they live their lives to suit the way we live ours and not the other way round.

Neither do I.
If people want to come and live in this country then they should abide by our laws and our customs AND become British!
Otherwise - go back to wherever.

Further to my last.
Jayne, do you teach all these ethnic minorities, in English?
I hope you do, because they do not stand a chance, if they can't converse in the language of the country that they are in.
Also the idea of the country's muslims having there own "Sharia" Law is crazy.
And just to go out of context - what did you think of the shop owner that had three golliwogs in his shop window and was asked to remove them because "they had offended somebody"!!
What is this country coming to?

There was a rumour that the person who complained about the Golly Wog was a black and white minstral passing the shop window.
According to the human rights people black and white minstrals have feelings as well and they have as much rights as anyone.

Sneaky, of course I teach all my kids in English!!!

My knowledge of holiday Greek / Turkish is fine. I have A levels in French and German. But my working knowledge of Punjabi / Urdu is non-existent.

It may also interest you to know that my brief is as a behaviour advisor to the LEA. I currently have 35 severley disruptive kids on my caseload mostly in the Foundation (nursery/reception classes) stage. 33 of those are white British kids.

I have had a shite week for all sorts of reasons. But watching a class of 31 year 4 kids .... all bar one Asian / other ethnicity today learning to play 'Old MacDonald' on recorders reminded me why I love my farkin' job!

12 months ago I would not have dared say this stuff on here. But you lot don't frighten me any more.

I am confident in what I do and know and say.

I was always under the impression that the Gollywog was removed from Robinson's Jam as retalliation for Idi Amin's taking the Queen's head off of Uganda's postage stamps!
