What sickened me almost as much as the terrible events in London,was the sight of our ertwhile President Bliar doing his world statesman act. The solemn face and voice, the "They will never defeat us this way"statement, as he travels around surrounded by police and M!5 blokes. If the bastard had done his job, and cleared all known terrorist sympathisers back to the places that they come from, I might have had a tad of respect for him. But no, he's followed the PC line of the human rights mob, with todays events the obvious result. Maybe now he will do something right for a change, if not, the consequences could be dire.

As a born and bred Londoner these attacks have sickened me completely. I watched the news for hours this morning with a slight sense of disbelief.

My thoughts and condolences go out to those who have lost someone. A few of my friends had close escapes as they work in the City & my Dad was lucky to be ill today otherwise he might have been a casualty.

Those responsible deserve to be hung. There is no justification for this kind of action whatsoever. However, I also hope that there isn't a backlash against the British muslim community as a whole. That will only fuel more extremism.

Without exception, every Aussie who’s spoken to me today, in whatever capacity, has offered their sympathies and also their admiration for the stoicism shown by the people of London in the aftermath of this tragic outrage.

All tv stations have been covering events, mostly live. ABC main news tonight had twenty-odd minutes out of a thirty minute newscast devoted to the events of yesterday. Cricket didn`t even get a mention.

It has made me feel so bloody proud to be British and on more than one occasion there was a huge lump in my throat and summat in my eye, I can tell you.

The Muslims in London need to act very quickly to avert a backlash or bloodbath against them. They need to take to the streets en masse and protest against this savage and debased act of cowardice. After all, if Britain is good enough to live in, then it's worth protesting for.

We acted magnificently in the face of this violence and my guess is that we will continue to do so. We thumbed our noses at the Blitz by taking to the Underground and spending our nights there singing. Again, we must carry on as usual against this threat to our safety. We are made of better stuff than those who would wish to destroy us. Remember, we are the people who put Adolf in his place. We will come through this united and proud, as we have always done.
