transfer question

Post by norhtengit »

is it uncommon for someone to transfer from say tank crewman (at the end of basic) to the para's, i take it if they allow it the recruit will have to start basic from scratch again.

We had two guys join us from other regiments and they had to start up with us at our 10 week point. This meant they didn't have to do their basic army training again but had to complete all the remaining time in depot. The really hard work doesn't start untill week 11 anyway.
Cheers,
ED.

After re-reading your question I can't say that I've ever heard of somebody transfering straight after basic training. After a couple of years maybe, but not this soon.
It's usually the other way around. Para Reg recruits that can't hack it tend to transfer to a regular infantry unit or logistic type unit if they can't stand the heat of depot.

If you are a trained soldier they used to do a 10 day P Course for people that wanted to transfer into the Regiment from other parts of the Army.
