Green "sniper" tape - nbc cloth repair tape

Post by scopey_uk »

Hi i'm a sharpshooter in the TA and need to tape n paint my rifle ready for an exercise in canada. My QM practically laughed me out of his office when i asked him to get me some of this tape and it seems rarer than rocking horse shit -anybody out there got some or know where i can get some?
I will gladly buy a roll or two if anyone out there can aqquire me a few rolls?
do or do not there is no try

Scopey,
Hello mate, from a fellow practitioner of precision shooting.
If you want camo tape try.
http://goarmy.co.uk/
In their search bar type "Tape". You should get their camo tape @ £2.99 a roll. They only do green though.

I find that taping and painting the rifle is a bit of a pain coz you gotta take the stuff off when you get back and put the rifle in the armoury. I have a "scrim sock", which is basically an old army sock with the toe end cut out. It has a load of hessian glued/sewn to it. When I deploy in a rural area, I pull it on over the barrel and stock and tape it in place. When the deployment is over, I just pull it off and it goes back in the armoury.
The only pain is that when stalking with the rifle in scrim , it attatches itself to every bush/ tree/ hedge/ twig it can whereas with tape that don`t happen.
Anyway good luck buddy

I have seen scrim like that before mine is identical. I took an IR blanket, cut it down to the length of the barrel and another length for around the stalk, sight etc. Tie hessian into it and as it had the holes in it you can add vegitation as you stalk. Add campaint to the mix but if you got your heart set on tape why don't you just go down to your CQ and nick some guntape?

thanks guys but the tape not just for the rifle - useful for camming up everything else too! The tape is issue kit - just bloody hard to get hold of especially if your a part timer like myself!

Scopey_uk where/when is your ex in Canada?

Most places right now you aren't going to be needing green tape your gonna want white. Its bloody cold outside still.

Scopey when did you do your sharpshooter course? I have done that one as well but haven't seen an L96 in my hands yet!
