I have a question:
What is the large pocket on the inside of the rear of this jacket?
Im refering to the version w/ the 2 verticalzipper pockets between the breat pockest and the full front zipper..
Is therea specificuse for this pocket or just there for general use?

If you mean the ar$3 pocket ?
Then its for folding the jacket into , makes a nice pillow
Waste of space and resource really , I assume thats why its not on the 95 pattern jacket
Some people refer to it as a poachers pocket , older versions of the dpm jacket ( i mean really old ) had a flap that buttoned to the front to stop it riding up on parachute jumps

"certa cito"
In the old style Para smock there was not a pocket there and the and the lads made one to take there washing and shaving kit.
The reason for this was, once your equipment was packed [for jumping],
you could spend hours or even days lying about on air fields without having access to the rest of your kit.
I'm not saying that is where it originated, but did equipment trials and that was one the things that came to light.

Is it not a 'Poachers Pocket'?
i.e. you use it to lut stuff in that you want easily to hand that is too big for the standard pockets, like a map.

I cut a roll mat up and sewed it into the kness, elbows and backside of my combat trousers whilst on course. The DS didn't notice but my bum did look big in them pants... it kept warm and dry though!
