Legionnaire

Post by jonboy »

I often wondered why Brits would want to join the FFL and after reading this book I can appreciate why. Simon Murray takes you through his life mainly from 1960 to 1965 as a young english-man in the FFL, he describes the hardships that he had to endure during that time (which were very harsh to put in mildly), the traditions of the Legion, the good and the bad charcters he knew that came from all over the world.
It is a well written and unique adventure which mainly takes palce in Algeria. Simon Murray certainly represented his nationality extremely well.
alright

Simon Murray's book was first published some time ago and caused a surge in Brits wanting to join the Legion. When I was in Calvi in Corsica, (2nd REP), they were called 'Murray's' :D :D

Simon Murray has just fininshed his 638 mile trek to the south pole, at 63 years of age!

Now that's impressive.
