The Veterans Agency

Post by Mutley »

The War Pensions Agency is now known as the Veterans Agency. Here is the official diatribe:
"The change of name reflects the intention that in the future this Agency will play an enhanced role in providing services to veterans". (Exciting stuff eh!).
There's more:
"The Veterens Agency is an Executive Agency of the Ministry of Defence led by the Minister of Veterans Affairs, Dr. Lewis Moonie." (So we have are own minister now, Wow).

Now the mission statement:
"Our mission is to deliver modern, high-quality, customer-focused services to war disablement pensioners, war widows, their dependants and carers and other veterans; and to deliver them consistently, efficiently and effectively in recognition of the many extraordinary and unique personal
sacrifices made in defence of the nation
.".

So there you have it, the Princess and the Magic Kingdom do care about us!

VA and PO dont go together

Post by Mutley »

Isn't it good to see the Minister for Veterans Affairs is getting his teeth into helping us all, so soon after taking up his role.

I see from the news that he has written to the 70,000 odd pensioners who draw cash from Post Offices to tell them they must now go to banks to collect the wonga. Its either open a bank account (and probably pay charges) or traipse round the countryside to find a bank in which to hand over you 'vouchers' for cash (making it easier for the banks to pressurise them into opening an account, or sell them insurance).

Apparently, he is not necessarily concerned about the lack of banks 'out of town' or in the rural community, because of the availability of internet and telephone banking....................

Why did I get a 1.7% rise in my War Pension and an MP got a 20% rise in his pension, is his job more dangerous than anyone in the Armed Forces.

I bet this is just another wheeze to give some dead beat MP a higher wage for all the years he has been walking threw the doors Parliament
and putting his hand up every time is told to.
Now has any heard of this Department before? Does anyone know who is in charge of it? has anyone seen this person make a speech in Parliament
on any subject concerning the forces? I REST MY CASE.

Pete's indexed RAF pension just went up by 5pds 94p a month. We can really go mad on that. Not, wouldn't even buy a mothers day lunch this Sunday. Is the CPI really only 1%? Thank god I live in Oz at least it goes further here. :-?

Going off on a tangent Cinders, but the OAP (Pensioners ) over in the UK received a measly (I think) 40 PENCE a week, some 3 or 4 years ago, increase in their pension, there was outrage, even Princess Tony had to intervene on that one. For the taxes we pay I do think that our pensioners get a raw deal, as I approach that magic age in 14 months time I think I will start a campaign to quadruple it! 8)

:(

Just had notification in that I lost my appeal at Pensions Appeal Tribunal in London on Wednesday, if I had won this test case I would have been paid back £70000. So I will just have to sit back and let those BASTARDS who caused my infirmities have the last say, mind you my feelings are ........ :fist: :fist: :fist: :fist: :fist: :fist: :fist: :fist: :fist: :fist:

Hearing problems

Post by Twenty One »

Go and get an independent assessment of your hearing, and resubmit your claim for a pension. There is an ongoing discussion with the MoD and the RBL plus medical specialists about hearing problems in the services and a decision has not yet been made on it,so if any info comes to my attention I will post it on a thread for all to see.So don't give up,keep at them but get that assessment of your hearing done NOW. :x
