Ahoy Speens as it stands at the moment we are now up to a staggering-60 bods who have confirmed they are coming to the reunion on the 12-July. Impressive or what! We also have 14 bods who are coming down on the 11-July, for the advance party. All this started with a message from Sharky Ward!!
Myself and Henry have now contacted most of you with the final details and have asked for a cheque of £10 to be sent. If you have not been contacted then please send your cheques ASAP. We must receive cheques by latest early next week. You can contact me through this site if you need payment details.

See you all next week

I would like to thank Billy Court, Henry Phelps, and of course Scotty for a great weekend at CTCRM, and the hard work of getting everybody together. It was great to see the turn out I'm not sure how many but I think it was 60 plus.
I was sorry to leave early on Sunday, but two nights of Dale's snoring and him waking up thinking he was somewhere else was enough. Sorry Mark. :drinking:

We must repeat it, the memorys were great and it was brillilant to see all the guys.

A job well done!!!!

Yes Shorty. it was a good weekend. I believe that Mark's wife uses Persil Automatic!!!

It was great to see all you lads.

I have now compiled a Photograph CD with all of the photo's I took over the weekend (over 100 pics) if any one wants a copy of the CD, Just e-mail me with your details. I am not aiming to recover the cost of production and P&P, but I am asking people to make a voluntary donation to the Salerno Account ready for the next reunion.

Big big thanks to Billy and Alan.

Thanks Shorty for the pat on the back. Mark Dale would also like to thank you for your parting gesture( swamping in his holdall )-nice one mate! The only thing he was bothered about was his roll ups.

Don't know what Wurz is on but he looked just the same as 25-years ago.
I expect he has never done a hard days graft since he left!
A big thanks to Blicky for not Knowing who I was despite talking to me for half an hour and there is me thinking I have aged well!!

There are two opps that also deserve a big pat on the back-Russ Barker-who took time out to take on the roll as Company Phots and also acted as Drives(for Fridays run in Exmouth) and Robby Pearce who has really put himself out from the begining and has made a massive contribution to this reunion.
I hope you all enjoyed the trip down memory lane as much as I did-Billy :drinking: :drinking:

Sorry Rob and Russ for not thanking you both and please could you Russ edit the CD!!!!

I would like to say that Exmouth and the women havn't changed in any way.

I think Dale got away likely I was thinking of putting the pillow over his head and doing a favour for his other half.

Barney sends his apologies and and said he will make the next one.

Make sure we all keep in touch!!!!!

With reference to the 41 Salerno Coy re-union which happened last weekend. The whole event went brilliantly and everyone who was there had a truly brills time. It all seemed to pass so quickly from the time that the `advance party` arrived, `till the time came to say our fond farewells and final handshakes, and with the firm belief that another reunion is a must.
I greatly appreciate the recognition shown, and for being part of the `team` in the organising of this very successful event.
My thanks also to Russ Barker for his extra contribution (apart from his duty drives on friday night) ie a photographic collection of `speens` enjoying the hospitality of the Sgt`s Mess in CTC, being put on a CD Rom as a permanent reminder (without payment to himself) for what was a truly memorial weekend.
Lastly, to everyone who made the time special by just being there! :drinking:

Interesting piccy of moi trying to fathom out the best way to crack open a bottle of Irish whisky towards the end of evenings celebrations...luckily for me Chris Large was on hand to give some expert advice and support in seeing some of it off!!

:silly: :drinking:

Keep in touch lads!

An Apology

I posted a comment on the main Misc Discussion board re the reunion.

At the end of it I made a comment that has caused offence to my oppo, Bob Pearce. I saw him today and apologised in person and now do so publicly.

I was trying to make a point with humour (and failed) that it was incumbent on all of us who wish to keep up the spirit of last Saturday, not to fall into the trap of letting the same old faces do the graft of organising and to spread the load where we can. In doing so I implied that Bob had done nothing in helping to make the weekend the resounding sucess that it was, which is not the case and again I unreservedly apologise to him and any others who took offence.

Re my origional message at the beginning of the subject and not wishing to detract from the bash held at Lympstone in the summer.

I and several others are still up for a marking the 25th anniversary of the disbandment of the Unit.

To this end there is intended to be an informal gathering at a Plymouth hostelry on Saturday the 1st of May (close enough to the date for me) 2004. It is likely that it will be the Two Trees (Ex RM Landlord) on Union Strasse. With notice being reasonably short and with no one in the position to organise an official gathering as was sorted by Billy Court and Co as per the last time, It is unlikely that we could make a service establishment RV. Therefore If you wish to join the dozen guys who have made a commitment to meet on this date, then please add your name here.

I must stress that there is no plan to organise or provide accom for those travelling, but if you are there on the night we will all be glad to see you.

Please add names as before if you are likely to attend.

Ahoy Sharky, as one of the dozen guys 'up for it' I would just like to add that any re-union / gathering / P.U. / etc that happens for this celebration, it will still be a great success...why?.. because the guys who have expressed an opinion say that they want this to happen an we all look foreward to meeting up again to swing that 'battered lamp' an have a brills time, after all....it will be the 25th anniversary at the end of the day, and that was the main reason for the get together in the first place!
