Ever wanted to be your own boss? Take up a Franchise!
Re: Ever wanted to be your own boss? Take up a Franchise!
With a Franchise are you your boss or is it a way to get you to work harder for the owner of the franchise

Well in a franchise you buy the right to use a company's reputation, branding and how they operate. In effect you are your own boss but at the end of the day you are selling under a different company's name and their products - they'll receive royalties of like 20% or so I think.Tab wrote:With a Franchise are you your boss or is it a way to get you to work harder for the owner of the franchise

With a Franchise you are completely tied to that company, and you have to buy their product regardless of what they charge you, now they are likely to take the 80% and you have the twenty percent left over. Now that has to pay your wages and operating costs, with good product you can do quite well but you will never become rich

Fast food chains are the only really successful franchising in my opinion. I'm from a small town but the McDonald's here is always packed and at lunch time serves in excess of 300 people between about 11-3. Problem is there is a McDonald's in pretty much every town!Tab wrote:With a Franchise you are completely tied to that company, and you have to buy their product regardless of what they charge you, now they are likely to take the 80% and you have the twenty percent left over.
