Woman

Post by daz89 »

Okay, so you make it to training.. you’re doing well, learning quick and getting fit. But you get leave and find out your partners done the dirty...

Don’t ever leave because of a girlfriend/boyfriend.. The corporals, the sergeant, the lieutenant, the captain and the major will tell you this if you try. I’m speaking from experience here, I threw away a great career because some stupid bird cheated on me when I was in training. Fair enough you get the red mist, you only want to do one thing. But after you do it you realise it’s no his/her fault.. It was your own partners fault.. I left because of that, done the job.. I felt bad ended up buying a drink for the boy. More than a year’s past now, I sprained my ligaments playing football and lost my hearing during basic. What’s the chances of me getting back in.. Anyone can fulfil their potential in training, don’t let the outside world distract you from what you worked so hard for!

Rant over.. I was in the top third of the platoon for everything.. And threw it away because of some bimbo. Just writing this to get it of my chest and hopefully stop anyone else from this site doing the same. :agrue:

We all remember the Dear John letters, you could see it on chaps face when he got the letter and every one would start singing Dear John. Still every would keep an eye on him until he got over it.

Thanks again wholley, as I said I wrote this post to hopefully prevent someone from making the same mistake I did. I couldnt imagine what some guys went through back in your day TAB. Hearing it face to face and still having contact is one thing, but being in a 'warzone' and receiving a letter bount to leave a man helpless! Suppose all you could do is get on with things though.

Snakes with tits mate, snakes with tits...speaking from Royals' point of view hearing would be an issue and rejoins tend to have to wait a bit longer.

Snakes with tits sounds about right mate! Aye I knew I would have to wait on my papers coming from Glasgow etc but it will give me a little more time to train. I’m torn between trying for the RM again or going back into the army (about 5 of my best mates are in the black watch). Obviously my mates in the Watch are trying to get me to join them, and I liked basic training at Catterick when I was there but.. Having tried for the bootnecks when I was only 17 and getting to PRMC I feel like I have a lot more potential if you know where I’m coming from.

As for the weight carrying it was just another type of training that I could chuck in every now and again, nothing heavy. I’ll also hopefully be walking the west highland way at some point this year so it’s also a good way of getting used to my kit.

Thanks for the reply’s lads

Daz... get set and ready and give PRMC another shot at least!
Then perhaps join your mates with Scotland's best regiment. 8)

Good luck in your choice mate, ya know where all behind you 100%.

You've very possibly swayed my decision back towards the RM Beast! But to be honest it didn't take much. The only reason I was considering joining the Scots again was my mates in the Watch, and the laugh I had in basic with the other scots I met lol. But I think I’ll regret not giving the booties at least another go some years down the line.

They post cards look awful Tab, a lot has changed from back then. I regularly talk to mates who are in Afghan on facebook (when they get a chance). The wonders of the internet!
