where did a CSM in WW2 wear his insignia

Where did a CSM in WW2 wear his insignia. Was it just on one sleeve or both, if it was one, which sleeve? Thanks

Well in the 1950's they were wearing them on their sleves, while in the middle east they wore a badge on their wrists which was on a leather strap and things had not changed that much since the end of WW2
